Chapter 14: Hand in Hand

Where would Lady Ashera be...Lily thought as she walked through a forest in a cloak. What would cause her to run away in the first place?

Didn't Lady Ashera love the prince?

As Lily was walking, a traveling merchant passes by her.

"Excuse me sir."

"Hm? How may I help you young lady?" The older man asked.

"Is there a nearby village?"

The older man looked up at the sky for a moment and answered. "It's not nearby, it's pretty far away actually. But it's the closest answer to your question. If you keep heading straight through here, you will find a small village. You should be able to get there after a few days. Maybe even two days if you travel non-stop."

"Many thanks kind sir."

"Mhm, safe travels young miss."

"Safe travels as well."

The older man nodded at her and continued on his path.

"Oh, wait for a moment!"

"Yes?"

"Have you happen to see a woman, an elf actually, with green eyes and long golden hair?"

"Hm...Let me see...Oh, I have seen her before."

"Really!?"

"Yes, I rested in the village I told you about. It was a few days ago, I rested in an inn and there she was, working there."

"Working?"

"Yes, she's a waitress there I believe."

"Thank you so much for your time sir."

"Not a problem. I hope you find the one you're looking for."

"Yes, I hope so too."

And with that, the merchant walks away, leaving Lily at a standstill. So Ashera's working at a little village. How did everything come to this? And Ashera working? She's actually working? She couldn't do a thing for herself back in the palace...Something odd is going on. But I don't have a bad feeling about it which is strange...

Ashera, what happened to you?

Meanwhile...

Ashera looked into the distance and took a deep breath.

"L-Lady Jill! Please accept these flowers!" A young man with blonde hair knelt down, offering a bouquet of beautiful flowers to Jill. Jill covered her mouth, astonished by the sudden gift. This is was happening inside the inn.

Ashera was holding Lucius in her arms, her other hand covering her mouth in surprise. Who was this brave young man who obviously has intentions of courting young Jill? Lucius simply looked confused and pats his mother's arm.

"Him again..." Ashera heard Royce mutter from behind her. When did he get there!?

"Who is he, boss?"

"He's a traveling apprentice knight." Royce answers, sighing. "His master and I have known each other for a while and they visit from time to time. It's pretty obvious that he has an affection for Jill."

Why do you look so dark Royce!?

"He fell in love with her at first sight apparently." Royce adds blankly.

Oh, I wonder how Jill will react.

Jill takes the bouquet of flowers and smiles at the young knight.
