Chapter 6: Birth of Light

"He kicked again!"

"He's a strong one." Jill was gently pressing her palms on Ashera's large bump. "You're so excited to come out, huh?"

Ashera chuckles gently. "He is. He can't wait to meet all of you."

Jill teared up and hugged Ashera. "I can't wait to meet you too!"

Ashera strokes Jill's hair and hums. "I'll be counting on you to look after Lucius as well, Jill. I believe you are a very good big sister."

"That means a lot to me, Ash! Thank you!"

"Now, now...Don't cry or Lucius will get sad too."

Jill wipes the tears that formed on the corners of her eyes and nodded. "These are happy tears!"

"What are you two doing?"

It was currently nighttime and Ashera and Jill were seated at one of the tables in the tavern. The tavern had closed and almost everyone had fallen asleep. Royce comes down from upstairs with a few documents and saw Ashera and Jill.

Jill was the one to reply. "Lucius kicked again!"

Royce raises an eyebrow. "Does it hurt?"

Ashera shakes her head. "Not at all. Luckily he doesn't hit my bladder."

Royce walks over to their table and looked at Ashera's belly. "...Is he still kicking?"

Ashera nods. "Yes."

Royce kneels down in front of her and beside Jill. "May I?"

Ashera nods happily. "Of course!"

It was rare for Royce to want to the feel the baby. Royce did not waste any time and places his hand over the bump. "...He kicks a lot."

"He does, doesn't he?"

"I bet he's going to be the type to run around and refuse nap times."

"Hahaha!"

Laughter filled the room. Royce smiles slightly and pulls his hand away, standing up. "Take it easy, alright? If I'm not mistaken, you said that you'll give birth in the fifth month? It's the fifth month now, so take all the rest you need and don't worry about work."

Ashera nods. "Of course, Boss. Thank you."

Royce shakes his head. "No need to thank me. Jill, help her up the stairs and to her room."

"I'm always on that boss! Let's go and call it a night, Ash!"

"Haha, yes of course. Good night, Boss."

"Mhm. Good night you two."

"Good night boss!" Jill supported Ashera and placed her hand on Ashera's back. The two slowly go up the stairs as Royce watches them carefully. Once they were out of sight, Royce walks away and leaves the building.

Meanwhile, Ashera sat on her bed and Jill sat beside her. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay. He finally stopped kicking."

"Haha, he got tired."

"Indeed."

Ashera began to hum a lullaby as time went on, Jill listening intently while closing her eyes.

"Ack!"

Ashera stopped humming and her hand immediately went on her bump. Jill jumped off the bed, looking at Ashera in a panic. Her hands trembled as she spoke to Ashera in concern. "Ash, what's wrong?! Where does it hurt!?"
