Samantha

Growing up in was never normal for me. I had my mother and my older loving sisters and brother, but I never had a father. My mother told me stories about him when I was little, but I never knew the man. In my mother stories he was always a knight in shining armor who would protect me when I was in trouble. How right I was but never knew it. I have two sisters and one brother, Oldest was my big brother Ace. Ace was always the quiet type and we never really got along but I knew if I were in danger or trouble, he would be there for me in a heartbeat. Then there are my two older sisters, they are twins First is Natalia, Second Is Bella. They are remarkably close to me. We are all close to one another and try our best to protect one another. I hate knowing they do not live with me anymore.

My sisters and brother all left to live with their dads. I knew since I was little the day would come that we all would have to live with our fathers, but it felt like I would have more time with them. Thinking about the day Nat and Bella left brought tears to my eyes. They were my closest friends. But the day came just like it did for Ace, and I keep playing it over and over in my mind.

(Three days ago)

"Mom where are my shoes?" Nat yelled

"Next to the back door, remember to say goodbye to everyone before 6pm your father will be here to get you and Bella." Our mother screamed

"Yes Mama." Nat and Bella yelled

I was in my room crying because this reminded me of the day Ace left, we all held each other but this time I was going to be all alone. It broke my heart, and I did not know who to turn to.

After a few moments, my door slowly opened, and I heard Bella gasp. "sorellina (Little sister in Italian) please don't cry. We will visit." Bella said I could hear her trying not to cry herself and Nat was crying. I sat up with my red, puffy eyes and put my arms up. They both ran into my arms, and we all cried for what seemed like forever until our mother came in the room.

"My sweet girls." She saw us and held each of us till we all slowly calmed down. "Do they have to go mama?" I said with a shred of hope she would say 'no my dear', but she just smiled with tears down her cheeks.

"They must my sweet daughter just remember your love for one another." She smiled and stood up "Bella, Natalia please go finish packing. Samantha my sweet go finishes your homework."

I slowly got up and walked to my desk and began the finishing parts to my homework. I watched my sisters leave and looking at the ground as the walked away.

(5:55pm)

We all stood in the living room, and we were talking about when we would see them. Mother said it would be a year till we saw them again and my heart broke. I looked outside to see a shiny silver car in out driveway and the tears came harder.

A tall man with red and silver hair exited his car, walked to the house, and knocked on the door. My mother went to open it and he seemed sad to see us all on the floor crying. We held each other for a solid 2 minutes and then we let go. "Goodbye sissy we love you!" Nat and Bella yelled from the car.

I ran into my mother's arms and cried for a few minutes. "Mama is this, okay?"

"Amore mio (My love) it is fine. you miss your big sisters, but they will be happy with their papa." My mother said

Then they were gone.

(Present)

I began to check the garden for good plants to pick as my mother picked some strawberries.
