Chapter 16

Skylers POV

My phone kept going off none stop when I was getting my pads on. I didn't bother to check, all I wanted to focus on was the game.

We all were sitting in the locker room. When coach and Adam walk in.
" Adam, I'm sorry but I already have a full roster" coach said

Russ began taking off his jersey but Charlie stopped him. " he can take my spot" Charlie said making Adams face go red.

Charlie walked up to Coach " it's what I can do for the team" he said
" Charlie I'm going to need you on the bench coaching right there with me!" Coach said handing him a clipboard

Everyone starts walking out but Adam and Charlie stay back. But I quickly move along.

Adams POV

I was about to follow the rest of the team out but I feel a my arm be tugged back. When I look to see who did it I see Charlie. As soon I see him my heart starts beating faster.

" hey Adam"
" o-oh hey Charlie, what you did back there was
Amazing. Thank you" I said and Charlie started shyly smirking at me
" I would do anything to help you" my face went as red as a tomato. I heard him chuckle
" o-oh um th-thank you" I said stumbling over my words
" you know the first time I saw you all I could think about was how pretty eyes you have, but now I see a pretty boy" he said smirking as I went Even redder

" um - I-I" I was cut of with a kiss and I quickly kissed back. He slips in his tongue and we continue to make out for a bit. Until I interrupt it " we should probably wit back" I said " we should" he says and we pull away but before he started walking I kiss him and walk in front.

I couldn't believe it I had just kissed my crush that I have had for years. I walked back to the team with the biggest smile on my face. When I saw Skyler I could see her smirking at me. I had to tell her after the game . I walk over and sit next to her.

Skyler POV

I see Adam walk with the biggest smile on his face and Charlie behind him. No way. I think Adam walks over to me
" you better tell me everything after the game" I say smirking
" don't worry I will"

Coach tells us all of our positions and I make my way to center. I got the puck and started skating towards there goal but two informers crashed into me stealing the puck and scoring.

Iceland scored a couple more times but Adam able to steel the puck and pass it to Russ. He was about to do his knuckle puck but Iceland stole it before he could.

Ken got sent to the penalty box for " ummm sportsmen-ship"

Connie was rammed into the wall but Dwayne threw the rope over the players head and pulled him back. The whole team went wild but all I was trying to do was focus on the game and nothing else.

Coach came into the locker room " did you all enjoy that"

" yeah!" Everyone said but me I was still mad at coach and Luis was sitting only a couple seats away from me.
" so did they, because there three points up and we are on period away from defeat" coach said knew there was a catch. Me and Jessie look at each other than say.

" well if we can't beat em then we might as well keep our pride" me and Jessie say at the same time.

" Jessie, Sky that's not pride. Sure when Dwayne roped that big oaf, part of me cheered. But guys I've been there. I know how you feel. I wanted to cream that jerk that busted me knee what I played in the minors. And I really wanted to go after standerson for that cheep shot. But you know why? My knee will heal. And if I become someone I'm not and sink you there level" you already did that I think to myself " well then I lost more than my knee. You understand?" Coach said

" yeah" we all say
" we're not goons. We're not bully's. No matter what people say or do we have our selfs."

He pointed at dean
" you who are you"

" Dean Portman"
" from where"
" Chicago Illinois" than this went on for a while so on and so on.

" we're team USA Gathered from all across America. And we're going to stick together. You know why?" Coach said

" because we're ducks. And ducks fly together" jans say

" that's right jans and when you think we're about to break apart, ducks fly together." Coach said
" and when the wind blows hard and the sky turns black..." ms McKay says

" DUCKS FLY TOGETHER!" We all yell
" when the rosters are crowin and the cows are spinning circles in the pastures.." Dwayne says

" um-ok"
" ducks fly together" we all shout over coach even tho we all were confused.

" and when everyone says it can't be done..... ducks fly together" coach says

" Now new ducks and old ducks must untold under a banner. And I thought perhaps something like this.." Jan started saying and than pulled out New Jersey's.

We all smiled and out on our New Jersey's.
" he and if we do lose. At least we're going out in style" I say making everyone laugh but coach

I guess you could say we don't like each other. We all stuck our hands and and started cheering " QUACK QUACK QUACK"

Soon enough we were all back on the ice and I stole the puck and passed it to Adam and he passed back and I shoot and score.
" that's what I'm saying" coach yelled

Soon enough Connie scored, and Adam, and Guy.

We all went back to the bench
" Charlie what are you trying to do? This isn't the NBA" I say confused and getting a high five from Jessie.
" but it's the perfect teamwork play" Charlie says and Adam puts him arm around him.

The team was doing great. We scored more goals including me.
It was now 5-5
And we had to do a shootout
Jessie went first and he made his shot
Than I was next.

I started skating forward three times before shooting. It sore in the sky right into the corner of the net.
It was 2-1 and we were winning

Iceland made there next shot

It was 3-3

Than Adam was up and did a triple deke and made the shot
" ya Adam" I cheered

It was 4-3 and Gunner stahl was up. I had nothing wrong with him I actually thought he was really nice.
Gunner shot his shot and we all look at Julie. Julie tosses the puck onto the ice making us all cheer

WE WON the ducks won
Everyone was hugging and cheering I skate over to Gunner stahl.
" good game Gunner"
" you did a good job Johnson" he said putting out his hand for me to shake
" so did you and your not as bad as I though" I say shaking it
" ya you aren't either pleasure going against ya today" he said
" same with you wish I could talk longer but I got to go" I say
" see ya soon Johnson" he says
" later Gunner" I say skating away back to my team.

We all went out to dinner and than back at out dorms. We only had 2 days before we all leave and go out separate ways. I laid in my bed and let the darkness overcome me.
