The Fall of Shiganshina

Dogs barked, winds blew, shock on everyone who lived in the communities faces. Just like that, everything changed. A hand had been placed onto the wall as a titan, no, a colossal titan had stood over the wall, it towered over it only a few meters above it. At that point, we knew that everything changed. We now knew that all we we're, were cattle in a pen as that titan peered down at us. We'll give context, over a two-thousand years ago, Titans had formed on the planet and had started to eat us, us humans. They had wiped out half, maybe even more of the population, those who hadn't died were rerouted to the 3 walls. Wall Maria, the first wall and the one with the titan over it now. Then there was Wall Rose, the second wall, then lastly there was Wall Sina, the inner wall where most Nobel families and the Military Police resided in.

Currently, it was year 845, mere hours before the titan had shown up, I was walking through the village with Korie, my older sister. I was walking with her past the gate where some had gone out to get fire wood, hunt, etc. As we passed by we had noticed two children with a blonde garrison unit guard talking to them until the boy spoke up, yelling about how the guards needed to be alert instead of lazing on their asses. "Oh Great! Then at least have the decency to stop calling yourselves a garrison; people might get the wrong idea!" This made my sister turn and look over, "C'mon Keiko," she sighed, "Lets go see what the problem is with those idiots I'm friends with."  My sister, Korie had snow white skin, like mine, she had the same charcoal gray hair that she wore in two space buns at the top of her head, but she had these light blue eyes that reminded me of orchids out in the meadow. As we walked over we heard the blonde guard, Hannes laugh and say to the boy who shouted at him, "Look at it this way, huh? If a garrison's actually doing what people think it oughta, we're up a creek. Personally I take a lot of stock in being called a freeloader, it means things are good. It's how I can measure peace of mind." Hannes had heard footsteps and turned to see me and Korie standing behind him, me still holding my older sisters hand as we were previously in the crowded merchant area and she didn't need me wandering off and getting lost as she knew me well and knew I wouldn't have asked for help in finding her. I hadn't been looking at my sisters friend, instead I was looking at the two familiar faces of the children in front of him, Eren Jeager and Mikasa Ackerman. Eren was a hotheaded-,ten year old boy and Mikasa was a quiet and levelheaded girl who often defended and protected Eren. Erens hand had balled into a fist and he growled lowly, "Good? We live in a cage. All we do is eat and sleep." Hannes had turned to Eren before saying anything to us, Eren had only said the truth that I had also been thinking, "That's it. End of story. We have the peace of mind of livestock." This made Hannes gasp slightly, his gasp probably routed to the fact a child was saying this to him. It was no secret to me, Mikasa and Armin that Eren wanted to be a scout, I honestly encouraged and supported it as it was also my dream. Korie had placed a hand on Hannes' shoulder, he turned to face her and his comrades but only moved his head but before she could speak one of the other intoxicated guards behind us spoke up whilst laughing, "Man, you were right about the kid havin' fire!" Then the other man holding a small handful of cards made the comment towards Hannes and Eren, "Careful not to cry it out. So, you coming back to the game or what?" He asked as my sister just shook her head, she moved Hannes and the other guard standing with him aside allowing my two friends to pass through, they watched them walk away and before I could even ask, Korie nodded for me to go with them. Korie took her hand off Hannes shoulder and stepped away from the two but again, about to talk but Hannes interrupted her now facing us three walking away, "Hey! Where you goin'?" he stood there with no expression as one of the other guys my sister knew, Hugo spoke and almost laughed, "The mouth on that kid.." I turned back waving bye to my sister but saw Korie hit the four intoxicated guards with her bag that had a few fruits in it as opposed to using her shoe or hand. Me, Mikasa and Eren kept walking until Mikasa was the first to speak up, "Eren. You should let the Scout Regiment thing go. You too Keiko." I just rolled my eyes at her but Eren turned to look at her as we kept walking, "Seriously? Why does everybody think they're a joke?" I mumbled softly, "I don't.." But Mikasa just continued on, "What people think about em' isn't really the issue." She paused as the three of us looked forward, the bell ringing which signified the Scouts had returned. Erens eyes lit up and he had formed a small smile on his previously emotionless and flat face, "Perfect timing! They're back!" then I continued on as if I read his mind, "C'mon! We can make it if we hurry. Get a move on! I want a good view!" With that, Eren grabbed both me and Mikasa' wrists as we ran fast ahead, Mikasa watching to make sure they didn't lose any firewood they gathered. We ran behind the already formed crowd, Eren mumbled as we walked behind the crowd "Argh. Can't see squat." at this point a few Scouts and their horses started to walk through but the three of us couldn't see anything. Eren stood up on a crate with Mikasa beside him, I got on the tree a few feet away and sat p on a branch where I had the perfect view but maybe I shouldn't have wanted that..
