The Hylian Knight  f/n l/n walked briskly past the Gerudo King and his entourage of castle soldiers her e/c capturing his gaze upon her. She had heard rumors of Ganondorf Dragmire receiving an audience with her cousin the Princess and immediately rushed to the castle to stand guard. Instead, she felt a wave of confusion spread through her body upon seeing him being escorted away from the throne room. That meeting was oddly brief. I wonder what it is that he wanted here. I better tend to Princess Zelda nonetheless.

Soft sobs suddenly filled her sharp Hylian ears causing you to clench her teeth and fist in great fury. What did that bastard do to her? He'll pay dearly if he caused Zelda any harm!  The Knight ignored the two sentinels marking the doorway to the audience chamber as she forced the double doors open with great strength. Before they could protest she strode boldly inside the grand hall, her h/l h/c flowing behind her. Impa snapped her red eyes upon your entry an instant look of relief crossing her usually stoic features. "Lady L/N, why have you come here?" Impa asked earnestly.

She sank to one knee bowing before the Princess of Hyrule allowing her hair to spill fluidly over her shoulders. "Cousin, are you hurt?" she inquired. Princess Zelda gazed down at her knight from her royal seat a soft smile replacing her grief. "I am not injured ...just shaken is all. Please come join me," Zelda invited scooting over on the large throne. F/N accepted the invite with a slight hesitancy but took a seat beside her cousin. "Tell me what ails you, Princess." The Princess reiterated her tale of Ganondorf's visit and the demands he had made. She listened with opened ears hanging upon every word. "I see why are you distressed, dearest Zelda," her cousin replied in an oddly calm voice. "It is either an alliance through marriage or the kingdom of Hyrule faces war with the Gerudo." Her cousin sighed heavily glancing away towards one of the upper windows. "Then all the work our bloodlines have done to secure peace with the Gerudo Tribe will be undone." Princess Zelda nodded simply her expression solemn. Her cousin faced her with a sudden determined expression lighting her face. "Then I will marry the King."

Princess Zelda gasped covering her mouth as Impa let out a cry of disbelief. "You cannot be serious Lady F/N," the Sheikah General spluttered. "Are you absolutely certain of this?" Princess Zelda questioned placing a hand over her chest. Grinning widely at her royal cousin, the Hylian Knight dipped her head forward. "I will gladly take this burden from you cousin my line from the throne may be distant but we are still tied by blood. Also I know a certain young man from the forest still fancies you." A smirk graced her lips as Princess Zelda's cheeks flushed at the mention of Link. "This is a debt that I can never repay to you F/N. I am very grateful to you." Y/N shrugged her shoulders. "I do not have much to lose here Princess Zelda. My family died years ago during a Yiga Clan attack upon Haetno Village as you well may know. I pledged myself to your services at the young age of thirteen despite my noble birth," the young woman explained. "To which you have proven your loyalty to the Royal Family many times over," Princess Zelda interjected. Impa nodded in agreement. "This unification between Hylians and the Gerudo only proves how solid your resolve is the Kingdom. I will approve of this marriage ... if you are certain this is the path you wish to follow." the Princess added. Again her cousin nodded once. "I wish for you to be happy Princess." The Princess let out a suppressed sob as she embraced her cousin. "Thank you ..."

Two days later the Princess had begun the preparations for a diplomatic meeting within the Gerudo Fortress home to King Ganondorf Dragmire and his subjects the famed Gerudo warrior race. Her message was to be delivered to the King via a trusted Rito friend that a bride has been selected and will be traveling to the desert lands within a fortnight. The brave Hylian Knight that had volunteered her own freedom to fulfill Ganondorf's demands was given comfortable accommodations within Hyrule Castle. Princess Zelda also provided a variety of beautiful dresses from her own collection as gifts to her cousin. "These should come in handy while you are courting the King," she told you as tried on a sapphire blue gown.

The day of departure finally came for F/N as she was to set off for her journey to meet her future groom. Princess Zelda had arranged a marvelous carriage and armed escort for her cousin to travel in safety to the Gerudo kingdom. The young woman was wrapped in an elegant gown of f/c and fine silken material. It bore the symbol of the sacred bird in flight and Triforce. As she stepped from the grand castle towards the carriage she lifted her e/c to the highest tower. Impa held the door of the carriage a soft look upon her usual stoic features. "F/N you do not have to do this. There is still time to change your mind," the Sheikah guardian stated. The Hylian Knight merely shook her head. "I dare not Impa as I must place duty before oneself. Hyrule cannot be at its best if the Princess is forced into a role she doesn't wish to play," she declared firmly. Impa raised her eyebrow seeming to grasp the wisdom behind the Knight's words.

A great neigh was suddenly heard from the castle gates followed by the sound of hardened hooves clipping up the cobblestone streets. Soon a young man wearing a blue tunic, white trousers, and brown boots rode a silver bay mare towards the gathered party. His blonde hair drawn pulled back in a short ponytail whipped about in the breeze as he rose and fell in the saddle. The young lady's eyes widened in surprise as she recognized the youth who was riding towards them. "My Lady's Hero has arrived but why?" the Knight asked softly. Impa shrugged looking just as curious. "I have summoned Link here to act as an escort for F/N's journey to the Gerudo Kingdom. King Ganondorf in his most recent correspondence did warn of danger along the roads," Princess Zelda said calmly and regally walking down the castle stairs.

The Hero halted his horse abruptly before the carriage, she pawed the ground and tossed her white flaxen mane as he dismounted. An ornate royal sword and shield were strapped to Link's back. He blinked his dark blue eyes regaling the Princess, Impa, and his charge with a kind stare. "Welcome back Link!" Princess Zelda said with a welcoming smile. Link bowed deeply wordlessly but sighing happily. From the inner folds of his tunic, the Hero presented a golden rose to the Princess. "Ohh Link you shouldn't have it's lovely," Zelda said with a gentle smile. A grin tugged at the corner of her cousin's lips as she watched the exchange. This was the reason why she would marry King Ganondorf in the Princess's stead.

After he fixed the golden rose into the Princess's long sunlight-covered tresses Link placed a kiss on Zelda's forehead. Impa cleared her throat causing the two to step back each blushing. Link rubbed the back of his head grinning sheepishly. "Lady F/N will need to be off soon. We cannot test Ganondorf's patience with pointless delays," the Sheikah guardian scolded. "You're right Impa, I apologize," Zelda whispered. Link turned to the young lady he was to be escorted to the desert and extended a hand. She politely accepted it while using her other free hand to lift her skirts to step carefully into the ornate carriage.

As soon as she was settled inside Impa climbed in and sat opposite of the Hylian Knight. "You are coming too?" she asked. "The Princess believes you will be much safer if I accompany you my Lady F/N. I am inclined to disagree as I understand your skills in battle nearly rival that of the Hero however, I cannot question the Princess, her lineage does wield the Triforce of Wisdom." The young lady nodded with a small smirk. "There's no arguing with my cousin. Once she has her mind made up it is difficult to change it." The carriage suddenly lurched forward and had begun to roll along. She quickly glanced out of the window just to see Princess Zelda waving farewell, her form growing smaller with each passing second. The Hylian Knight leaned heavily into the velvet cushioned seat releasing a silent prayer to the goddesses that their journey is a safe one.

Author Note: Ugh sorry if this chapter was not up to par. I have been attempting to handle my mental health issues and a lot of other writing commitments including my personal fantasy novel series. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
