We spent the rest of that night wrapped up in each other, alternating between our pizza and making out like teenagers. We were still stationed firmly on "Third Base," but I didn't mind. This girl was so much more than a score to me... besides, she could do miraculous things with that beautiful mouth. What's the saying? It's the quiet ones you've got to look out for? Yeah, that applied to Mia's oral skills. I had a sinking suspicion that once I finally... crossed the finish line, so to speak, it was going to apply there as well.
We got to spend a few days just the two of us. It was so good, I'd almost forgotten about the engagement party and her shitty family. I whisked her away on any random date I could think of. I was wooing this girl with everything I had in me, and it seemed to be working. She was all smiles and laughs, kisses and flirty touches. It definitely appeared that she was just as enamored with me as I was with her. Now I just had to make sure I didn't fuck it up. That was going to be the real struggle.
On the fourth day, Mia was summoned to go to her sister's dress fitting. Apparently, she was expected to be a bridesmaid, though by the sound of things, she had never really been asked. Me? I was invited to a day of golf with the father of the bride, the groom and lord knew who else. I wasn't excited, but it was whatever. I was pretty good at adapting to whichever crowd I was around. I was more concerned about leaving Mia with her shark of a mother.
"Promise me one thing," I stated, leaning against the door frame as she readied herself for the day.
"What's that?" she asked as she spread some shinning pink gloss onto her lips that I had to fight to the urge to go and kiss off.
"Promise me you'll stand up for yourself," I replied, a pit of emotion growing in my throat. "You've got no problems fighting back when it comes to work, or me... but you struggle with it with them and... honestly, I'm really uncomfortable that I have to leave you alone with them."
Her reflection smiled sweetly with me from the mirror. "I'll be fine, Wes."
"I know, but..." My voice trailed off a bit. "Don't let them walk all over you. Please, Mi. If you come back here all... broken and sad, I don't know what I'll do."
She set down her gloss and turned, wrapping her arms tightly around my abdomen. "You will be the incredible man you are and do everything in your power to cheer me up," she stated, those dark eyes looking up at mine, gazing at me with all the adoration in the world. "You're not worried about golfing with my dad?"
"Nah. I've played the rich boy at the country club on more than one occasion. I can handle it."
"I'm sure you can." Even in heels, she was substantially shorter than I was, so she pressed up on the toes of her shoes and pressed her lips to mine. "And I promise you, I won't let my mom and Gia put me through the ringer. I'm honestly not even nervous."
"Really?" I asked, cocking a disbelieving eyebrow, as I stroked a hand down her side.
"Yeah, for some reason, I feel oddly confident about it," she stated with a grin as I pressed a kiss to the tip of her nose. "Can't imagine why that is..."
I chuckled, knowing that she was implying I was responsible. "I didn't make you confident," I argued, tightening my arms around her. "I just... brought it out of you. The Tigress was always in there."
"Is that like... my alter ego name now?"
I nodded. "Yep. Hot as fuck."
She giggled as I brushed my lips against hers again. "You know Tate might be there, right? I'm... pretty sure he's Dave's best man or groomsman or something."
I rolled my eyes, my lip hiking up in the corner to reveal my distaste. "Dave's not real bright, huh?"
Mia chuckled. "Dave's... not that bad," she stated. "He's not... bright, by any means. But he's pretty sweet when my sister isn't railroading him."
