I watched as he opened up a worn book and sat on a park bench.

The sun was fading into a just a hazy glow as he read from the light of a street lamp, licking his fingers every now and than to turn the page. I could see the boy better, considering it was now dusk, but than again, ghosts will be ghosts, and no matter how close, or how dark, they will always have a unnatural paleness to their figure, shielding their real form.

Maybe it was the bleached blond of his hair, or the milky tint that made it obvious he just naturally had light skin, but whatever it was, the boy stood out, glowing like a single star trying to light up the void of empty darkness. It was impossible to advert my gaze.

He flipped the page again, lifting the cover slightly and giving me a glimpse at what book he was reading- Alice in Wonderland.

I loved that book, the way it pulled you in, like a never ending dream. It was something to get lost in, something to give you a life other than this reality.

I watched from afar as his mind did just that, pulling itself away into an unknown fantasy.

I couldn't stop my own mind from wishing I was in that fantasy too.
