A/N: YO GUESS WHOS GOT ANOTHER CHAPTER OUTTTTTT

✨ m e ✨

No, I was not seduced by aliens, I did not move to a remote island, and I did not not suddenly get kidnapped and thrown into a basement. Iv just not really wanted to write lately. Yea I know, great excuse, but that's the truth. My apologies for the long wait, but I hope you guys enjoy this chapter, and im going to try to start writing more. ILY YALL BYEE

————————————————————————

"It happened on a cold night. Too cold. The type of night that leaves you feeling like your stark naked, instead of bundled up in furs and cotton. Anyways, as you probably assumed, considering you read the dedication to the bench, I died in war. The Vietnam war. There have been many wars throughout the century's ruled by man, but this is one a lot of people don't exactly imagine when they say "war". Usually the world wars, or something like that. Not Vietnam. Well, spoiler alert, this one was just as brutal and deadly as all the others."

I had been send to aid south Vietnam. It's funny, because I died before I was even able to get to my post. I happened mere hours before the Tet Offensive took place."

Tet Offensive. I think I learned at bit about that in school. It was a sneak attack on south Vietnam from the north, but I don't remember the details.

"We had been on our way, almost there, actually, when we were suddenly found face to face with a group about to impose on the South," Casper continues. "They were just as surprised to see us, as we were them, but odds were on their side, cause we were only a small group. Most of our weapons were to be handed when we got to camp, so aside from a few guns, we were defenseless."

I can feel my throat close and I bite my lip hard enough to taste blood. It didn't take a genius to figure out what happened next.

"Casper.... I'm so sorry." My attempt to help is weak but I can't think of what else to say. It seems neither can Casper, because he doesn't respond and simply just looks up, at the fading light, and the coming dark.

"You know, it's things like this that make the light disappear, making the darkness cloud us with pain from the past. But, even when the light is gone and there is just never ending black, stars still shine. It's not enough to bring back the light, but it gives the deep sea of sky a shape, something that may not be perfect, but that's alright. It's there, and really, that's all that counts."

I had never been one for poetry, but suddenly, it's as if words are spilling out of me, making no sense, but at the same time making all the sense. They flowed together in strings of song, so unbearably un- perfect, it was perfect.

Casper looks at me and I can feel the shock radiating of him from my spew of thoughts. We stare at each other for so long, only the sound of chirping crickets and our un even breaths, before he does what I would have least expected. He smiles.

God, iv never seen something more beautiful.
