George's POV
~~~~~~~~~~
Thursday
June 3rd
8:00 AMI'm awoken by a faint knock at my door. I sleep lightly, so the quietest scurry of a rat could wake me up easily. I hear a soft voice from the outside.
"Prince George... are you awake..?"
It's the voice of one of the castle maids, Annamay, to be exact. She sounds slightly worried. I lazily reply back.
"Uhm... Yea..."
I say, my voice scratchy and my messy bed head getting into my eyes."Your father would like to speak to you. He says it's important."
She still sounds worried. Her voice slightly quivering.I groan and slowly sit up
"Annamay, why do you sound so worried?"
I say, my voice beginning to warm up.I don't hear a reply from her. Instead, I hear one of the castle knights who guard my doors telling her off. The knights who guard my door are always so rude.
It takes me a while, but soon I slowly stumble out of bed and lazily walk to the restroom. I splash my face with water and wash myself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I leave the bathroom feeling more awake and refreshed. I hear another knock at my door.
"Come in!"
I slightly raise my voice, expecting Annamay or my valet. As expected, it's my valet. A new one, though."What happened to Connor..?"
I ask, half worried."Oh... Connor is dead. Found with no head floating in the moat. Probably fell and the alligators got 'im."
He says in a worryingly calm tone. I look at him horrified."Well, anyways... Let's get you dressed. The king wants to speak with you."
I feel uncomfortable letting him dress me after what he said and how calmly he said it. He finishes after he buckles my royal blue cape around my shoulders.As soon as he leaves, I reopen my dresser and pull out a white lace-up corset with a pearl finish, giving it a graceful shine. Father has always been displeased with me wearing a corset, but it makes me feel less shitty about my body. It's slightly difficult when I do it by myself, but I tighten it as much as I can to the point where I look pencil thin, but I can still breath.
I open my large, stained oak door slowly, slightly struggling under the weight of it. I open it just enough to wear I can fit through and slip out. The knights on either side of my door refuse to look, but one of them quickly glances at me and is very obviously repressing the urge to giggle at me. I choose to ignore them as I start walking through the large hallway.
I can hear my boots tapping against the dark oak floor, echoing off the crimson red patterned walls as I walk hastily but nervously. Annamay said it was important... What could it be..?
As i'm thinking of her, Annamay, along with 2 other maids, are walking through the halls with a cart of plates, assuming they're making their way to the dining hall. As I pass them, I wave silently to Anna and keep walking. I finally get to a door leading to the outside stairs, in which lead to the throne room. As I make my way up the diamond chiseled stone stairs, I look out over the field of the kingdom. It's a clear summer day and I even see a few civilians.
After going up numerous flights of stairs and dealing with achy legs, I finally make it up to the throne room where my father is sitting impatiently. Next to his throne stands someone else. He taps his finger impatiently on the golden frame of his chair. I notice that boy standing next to him is slightly leaned up against the arm of my throne with his arms behind his back.
I hesitantly walk forward, a sheepish smile on my face.
"Hello father... Sorry for taking as long as I did."
I say, my voice quivering and my legs slightly shaking."I have been waiting here for 45 MINUTES!"
His voice booms through the large circular shaped room. I wince and duck my head."I... I'm sorry father..."
I can barley get it out. Even though he's my father, I can't help but be terrified of just speaking to him."Ugh... Anyways. Clay, step forward."
The boy who was leaning on my throne jolts himself off of it and takes a few steps forward."George. This is Clay. I am assigning him as your new appointed knight to protect you when you're in dangerous places around the kingdom."
'Clay' starts walking slowly to me. When he gets to me, he bows his head."Nice to meet you your highness~"
He says almost mockingly. Now that he's in front if me, I can observe him.He has green eyes, freckles, and messy blond hair that's just a little wavy. That and numerous scars on his face. He was wearing a black long sleeve T-shirt with a forest green hood, along with black trousers and fingerless gloves. He had an iron chestplate and iron pauldrons along with a brown belt and straps on his chest presumably to hold the scabbard of a sword or a bow. To top it off, he was wearing a white mask on the top of his head. The mask was sort of creepy. It had beady black eyes and a dead smile. Looking past the creepy deadpan expression of the mask, hewas actually quite handsome. He was significantly taller than me and had a perpetual condescending smirk on his face, which made me feel even smaller.
My father looks at Clay dead in the eyes.
"Clay. If you fail to protect my son and he ends up dying, you will too."
Clay gets a nervous look on his face before bowing"I promise your highness, that will not happen."
He says, his voice almost quivering."It better not."
Fathers voice speaks sternly and loudly, sending a shiver down my spine. Me and my new appointed knight, 'Clay,' hastily exit the sanctum.~~~~~~~~~~
"So..."
Clay begins as we leave the castle through the drawbridge."Where to first, my liege?"
The way he says things makes him seem like he's mocking me."You know, you have no right to speak to me like that."
I say sternly."Like what??"
He says, acting stupid. I stop in my tracks, stomp my foot, and spin around to face him."Don't play dumb with me, CLAY! I know you know what I mean."
He looks at me with that same stupid smirk. He's already acting like he's better than me. What a brat.oH geOrgE yOu'Re sUch a tSunDerE~!
Ok next chapter will probably be out when I get bored and decide to write. I get bored a lot so dw 👹
