George's POV

Sunday
June 6th
12:46 PM

I walk through the lush green fields of the kingdom seeing if I can find and sort of ruin or ancient tech. Clay's following close behind. The rustling of the grass and the quiet singing of the birds puts me at ease. I can hear the faint jingling of the knights weapons as we stroll through the flowery fields. He has been my knight for about 3 days now and is usually annoying and talkative, but today, he's quiet and docile. We've been walking around for about 25 minutes now. I jog over to a nearby tree to rest and have lunch.

I set down a picnic basket and pull the red checkered blanket from the top of the basket and lay it on the ground. Clay hesitantly stands and stairs at the blanket, unsure if he's allowed on. I gesture him to sit down. I begin to pull out the contents of the basket. Bread, sandwiches, jam, a knife, a wooden cutting board, and a bottle of wine.

"One of our best chefs made these. She even made the wine herself."
I say with a soft tone in my voice. Usually he'd reply with a snarky remark, but this time all he did was smile and hum. I look up at him and smile softly. I pick up one of the sandwiches and hand it to him. He takes it and immediately eats it in one bite. I giggle as I see him shove the sandwich down his gullet. He realizes what he did was a stupid thing to do in front of a prince. He quickly swallows, but chokes on the sandwiches cause he didn't chew it properly. This makes me laugh louder.

He snatches the bottle of wine and pops the cork off, and without even getting a glass, he drinks it straight from the bottle. He finally stops choking a wipes his mouth off. He looks red in the face. Whether that's from embarrassment or from choking, I don't know, but it's cute nonetheless.

"Agh- Uhm... you gonna eat anything..?"
He's trying to change the subject.

"No... i'm not all too hungry."
I lied. I'm very hungry. But I can barley eat without feeling terrible about myself.

"That's not true. You didn't eat anything for breakfast and we've been walking for half an hour. You must be a little hungry."

"No... I-"
I'm cut off by him scooting towards me and grabbing a sandwich. He then forces my mouth open, sticks the corner of a sandwich in, and forces my lower jaw up, therefore forcing me to bite down on it.

Stunned, I reluctantly start chewing, but slowly.

Just swallowing it is hard to do... Granted... they were pretty good.

We sit on the ground as he eats and I take notes. I have no idea how he can eat so much but still look good. This guy has a 6 pack and eats like he hasn't in ages.

About 45 minutes to an hour later, the plate of sandwiches is clean and we're both eating bread and jam. I'm more nibbling than eating, but he's eating, once again, like he hasn't in decades. I finally decide to pop the question

"How on earth do you eat so much but still stay so... physically fit..?"
He doesn't even finish chewing before he answers.

"I have a fast metabolism."
He mumbles with a mouth full of bread.

"Yes, but how do you eat so much... period."
I look at him with a worried-yet-confused glint in my eyes. This time, he swallows before he answers.

"I don't know... i'm just hungry a lot. Or i'm just that great~"
He ends his sentence with a snarky tone in his voice. I hate when he does that.

"Ugh... Well, I should put the rest of the food away before you explode."
I get up and pick up the remaining half of the bread loaf, as well as everything else, before wrapping it up in the blanket and putting it back into the basket

"Are we gonna go anywhere from here? Are are you gonna head back to the castle..?"
The blond boy questions.

"It's only two PM. I think I saw something strange while I was writing in my notebook. We should check it out!"
I say, exited.

"Isn't checking out an unidentified creature that you saw move... dangerous..?"
He looks down on me worryingly.

"That's why you're here!"
I swiftly grab his wrist and tug him along as I run towards where I saw the strange creature. The knight draws his sword, preparing for if it was something hostile.

We get to the top of the hill I saw it go down the other side of. I was expecting something small and easy to fight if it came to that, but I was mistaken. A large 8 or 9 foot creature standing at the bottom of the hill with a poorly made wooden club. It doesn't look too strong... or smart... but it still makes me freeze up. Clay puts away his sword and pulls out his bow. As he takes and arrow out of his quiver, it immediately lights on fire. I'm mesmerized by the flame and how it lit. My eyes follow it as the knight lets go of the arrow and it pierces the head of the beast. Fire spreads throughout the monsters body as we watch it scream to death, it's lifeless body charred on the ground. It was quite grousom... I almost feel bad.

My feelings of guilt are pushed aside by the skill of the soldier. My head snaps up to look at him with admiration.

"That was so cool!!"
I exclaim, stars in my eyes. He looks down on me and blushes

"Really? Eh... it was nothing, really... Just... a fire arrow..."
He looks embarrassed and a bit flustered.

"Nothing really??? DID YOU SEE THAT!!! How did it even catch on fire to quickly?? Was there magic in it or something??? What it somehow the heat from the sun?!?!"
I pull out my notebook as he tells me how they work. He looks happy that i'm taking such great interest in this.

I grab his wrist once again and run down the hill. I apporoach the burnt corpse and start examining the features, drawing pictures of what it looks like when it's not... a charred black lifeless body. Clay looks at me with calming eyes as I look back up at him. It makes me feel different. Different than i usually feel around him...

Ok now the gay's beginning to pick up 😳
