We will skip pregnancy as everyones experience is different. Every pregnancy is different. Every birth is different. Let's move on to when we know something is wrong with the baby and no one listens. Cf can be tested for during pregnancy. Don't get me wrong but not pregnancy's are tested. Even if the test is done there are a lot of unknown variants to the Cf gene and many are still not known.
Cf babies have respitory issues even when they are born. Doctors may over look or bypass little things if they don't know that the baby has Cf. The congession they say can be from fluid not removed during delivery, thus causing oxygen levels to drop slightly.
If your baby is born and there are any concerns, you as a parent have to fight for your childs health. If the doctor does not listen to you then go to a different doctor. Make sure all baby testing is done before you leave the hospital. If you don't understand what is being said tell them to repeat it differently. Just know that you are the protector of the baby until it can speak for itself. So keep records of any problems, ER visits, illnesses, doctors you see, and medications that the child is given.
No matter what these babies are going to have respiratory illnesses such as sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia and allergies. They probably have reflux. They have trouble having bowel movements and abdominal pain. They fail to gain weight or loss weight quickly. They have frequent cough, wheezing and shortness of breath. Their skin has a salty taste when you kiss them. Many but not all have clubbing of the fingers or toes. Let me explain its when the fingertips or toetips become large, blunt, and rounded.
