"Everyone get a curse sweetheart. Don't cry! Even i have one." My mom comforted 8 year old me. Begging me to stop crying over something she can't control sounded like her worst nightmare.
"Momma but i don't want to be cursed. It's not fair. Why me?!" I whined out to her, crying to her.
"Babe, let me explain. Everyone gets a curse when they turn 18. Everyone, trust me sweetie."
My tears started to calm down as i wanted to here more.
"No one ones what you will get." My mom continued, her voice almost as calm as a calm flowing river. "Not only do we not know, but the curse can be good or bad. We sometimes have to go threw challenges, corses, to achieve what we want. Some curses are rare. Some are simple and easy."
"What do you mean?" My tears started to come back at the thought of having an "unusual" curse, being "different" scared me.
"Well, some curses depend on the things you do. Others just affect your daily life. Mine you see, I can't have red peppers. That affects me and others around me daily life. Even touching red peppers send me into a life or death situation." my mother spoke out to me.
"Life or death?" I asked calmly.
"Now i don't want to scare you okay." She said to me. Her face concerned, anxious almost as if she felt how i felt, what i was thinking.
"I know mamma!" I rolled my eyes suggesting to get to the good part. The part i wanted to hear.
"If you get in touch with your curse, Do as it says you shall not do, with meaning you shall be given a second chance. If failed not only will it risk your chances of survival, you can risked others chances as well. Now you see, these curses are not to be played or messed with. Things and go down very quickly okay sweetheart."
"Okay mommy." I said happily. My tears were all gone.
"But you need to under stand," my mom went on, "these things only happen to the ones who have rare curses, as they were and are going threw the worst with their curses."
"Oh." I stated numbly.
My mom sang me a lullaby as my eyes fluttered shut. The sound her her foot steps on the cold hardwood floor were the last things i heard before everything went into a blur. I was asleep.
