I was walking down the sidewalk of my home town, (Arlin) headed towards my friend Zara's house. It was Saturday morning so she called me to go hang out.The sidewalks and roads were both covered in ice in this part of town, so I quickly had to switch to the grass so I wouldn't slip.I looked down, at the satisfying crunch of icy grass beneath my boots, when I noticed something shiny in the grass. At first I thought it was just the ice but when I went to pick it up it was made of metal.I quickly grabbed my glove from my pocket and rubbed it against the metal object, clearing the ice away revealed what seemed like a dog charm to a necklace but it was very hard to make out exactly what the design was.I put my gloves on and shoved the charm into my hoodie pocket, along with my now freezing hands. When I looked up I saw a boy approaching me, walking down from his house that I just so happened to had been stopped in front of.The house was a pastel green with white accents, it had icesickles hanging from the roof and a little snowman statue on the porch along with somebody's black car in the drive way.I started to fidgit with my fingers in my hoodie pocket and stare at everything else but the boy, I genuinely had no idea why he was approaching me but he was blocking my way to Zara's. "Hey!" He said, I somewhat jumped I knew he was coming but his voice still startled me.When I looked up at him our eyes completely locked, he had green eyes, black hair and was wearing a gray hoodie with black jeans. He reminded me of something or someone but I couldn't quite put my finger on it."Hey" I replied nervously, trying not to seem rude."I'm sorry I saw you out the window and, well my family just moved in here thought I'd come out and say hi. My name's Lance by the way nice to meet you" he quickly explained, I could tell he was around my age so I understood where he was coming from."Oh welcome to Arlin, I live down Oxo st. It's a few roads down, I'm just headed to my friends house right now but it was really nice meeting you" I quickly explained trying to still get out of the awkward situation."Alright well have a good day"he said and started walking off back towards his house."you too" I replied, when he got to his door and opened it I noticed another boy inside laughing at him. I figured it was his brother, who had just probably set him up to do this, which made me chuckle then I sighed, relieved that the awkward situation was over.

I walked up to Zara's house, she lives in a small blue house with red accents. Her house always bothered me, the house itself is blue and so it the door I always told her if it was white or red it would look so much better. She then replied saying that I was "weird for hating on her front door", but then again who's normal.By this time my fingers felt like they were going to fall off, but I stepped up to her door and rang the door bell. Zara being Zara, she ran to the door and practically tackled me to the ground with a hug, we then went up to her room and hung out. The first thing I did when we got to her room was go say hi to Leaf her frog, he was honestly the cutest thing to me besides my cat rosey of course. He was sitting in his terriaum on top of a rock under his heating lamp, I started to give him head rubs and he looked like he was about to fall asleep. After awhile I turned to Zara who was now lighting some candles. I decided to tell her about the new family to move in not to far from her house and of course her first question was, "is he cute?" I knew I couldn't lie to her because she always knows when I'm lying, but I decided to anyways. "No" I said with a disgusted face, trying to throw her off. At this point I was flipping through a random astrology book she had on her table next to Leaf's terrarium, "Oh I'm a Libra, can you tell more about my sign?" I quickly asked trying to change the subject. She stared at me for a few seconds, with a smug like grin on her face I knew she caught my lie."Libras are known to be indecisive and balanced, represented by the scales." She informed me while pointing at the scales on the book. Apparently I wasn't the only one informed on the new family moving in, her mother swung open Zara's door holding a small box. "Oh good you won't have to go alone! Can you girls bring these to the new family?" Her mom had just realized I was in the house, and I just shot a glance at Zara I did not want to have to go over there again. "Sure mom" Zara replied and I grabbed my boots to put them back on.
