So no-one told you life was gonna be this way

No one told you life is rough, full of bumps and twists and we humans rely on each other, we rely

on our social skills and our ability to bond and form relationships

No one told you you needed friends

Friends, comrades, acquaintances, pals

However, you choose to phrase it friends are the shining beacon of my life

The light at the end of the tunnel, the jewel among the degraded debris

Friends are like 4 leaved clovers: hard to find but lucky to have, special, unique

Sure sometimes they'll push your buttons, get under your skin, wind you up

But at the end of the day, they've always got your back

My friends are everything to me

My shoulder to cry on, my anchor in the sea, my glimmer of hope when all seems lost

My rock, my world

My love for them is overflowing, everlasting

Requited or unrequited

Of course, they've got flaws, we all do, we all mess up

But sometimes it's good to make mistakes because you get a chance to reflect on them and

with growth and patience, you'll learn to become the best version of yourself

So don't be afraid to put yourself out there, let people in, build connections

Don't shut your friends out, don't toy with something which possesses more value and beauty

than you realise because if you fight fire with fire, you'll only get burned

My friends are my fireflies

My loyal allies

My faithful guides

And the light of my life
