third point of view

mom, dad, i'm home!

hei ryung called out as she removes her shoes by the entryway.

when no one replied to her, she called them out again.

mom? dad? where are you?

normally, whenever she calls them as she arrives home, someone would at least reply to her.

the unbearable stillness is making her nervous every second.

mom?

she called out again, walking towards the living room then to the kitchen.

hei ryung's hand flew to her mouth; anger, shock, and pain hitting her all at once as she takes in the disturbing scene in front of her.

her mother's head is dipped on the kitchen sink filled with bloody water while her father's body is laying on the counter with a slit throat.

the whole kitchen is a mess, splatters of blood were fanned out on the walls.

hei ryung fished out her phone from her bag and quickly dialed ki hyun.

hey sis, what's up?

b-brother, help...

hei ryung's voice trembled but she tried to keep calm.

however, the sight in front of her broke her.

come home, please. mother and father...

i'm on my way!

hei ryung put down her phone and averted her attention back to her parents.

she wanted to hold them but she's afraid to tamper with the evidence possibly left by the killer.

she's overwhelmed with anger and sorrow.

hei ryung's knees buckled and she fell to the ground, the tears she has been holding back all this time have finally fallen.

suddenly, the air coming from the window let out a breeze in the room, making a paper fly in front of her.

she took the paper and inspected its contents.

property title?

hei ryung stood up and glanced back at her dead parents.

sorry, mom and dad. but this is for you.

hei ryung walked out the door with the document in hand.

beware, joo dan tae.
