I woke up with a jump. I was in my bedroom, dressed in nothing but a large T-shirt. It had turned dark out. I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. 10:27 p.m. There was a small note. I walked lightly to the window and read the note under the moonlight.Kylie,
We know what's been happening inside that home of yours. Soon the time will come and you will be welcomed home. Don't worry about anything anymore.
The note was unsigned. Who sent me this? What did they mean by 'soon the time will come'? I placed the note under my mattress. I would probably be punished for arriving home so late. My backpack, with it's contents nearly spilling out, was sitting in the corner of the room. I threw it into my closet. It's not like I was going to school tomorrow anyways.
--------------------
I was up at six a.m. As per the usual. My door was locked. Sighing I walked into my bathroom and showered. When I finished I dressed in dark skinny jeans and a black shirt. I took the blood filled flask and put it in my back pocket. The drop from my window to the ground was only three stories. I quickly braided my hair as not to land on it and jumped out the window, landing on my feet. I ran into the woods. The sound of my impact with the ground surely woke someone in the house. The body of the football captain was hanging from a tree not too far from the edge if the woods. A piece of paper fell from the hole in his stomach. It was a picture. Of what, I could not tell. It had been distorted from soaking in blood and stomach acids. Twigs cracked somewhere behind me and a hand was placed in my shoulder. I turned around to punch the stranger but he caught my arm. He wore a white mask with black feminine features and a yellow jacket. Someone stood behind him awkwardly. They wore an orange hoodie and a black ski mask with a red frown. The man who held my arm let go and held his hands up as if surrendering. I absently rubbed the red marks on my wrist from his grip."I am Masky, and this is my companion Hoodie."
Hoodie offered his hand, and I took it. Masky took my other hand. My surroundings blurred and my vision darkened.
--------------------
There were whispers coming from my left. I struggled to hear them clearly."Slender she can't stay here. We have to take her back!"
"She can't go back Trendy! Don't you remember what the bad man did to her!"
"Sally, go upstairs. Now."
"Yes Slender."
It took much effort but I opened my eyes. The light pouring in from the large windows gave me a headache.
"She's awake."
I looked in the direction the voice came from and I was met with a pale white figure wearing a black suit. The strange thing was, he had no face. This was the faceless man from my dreams. I tried to sit up but he gently pushed me back down.
"Do not strain yourself, child. You must rest after a journey such as that."
"Where am I?"
"Slender Mansion, welcome Kylie." The owner of this voice was also pale. He wore a black suit with colorful polka dots and a matching top hat. His face reminded me much of a stereotypical smiley face.
I nodded and my headache grew worse. I felt dizzy and blacked out again.
--------------------
My eyes fluttered open. I felt much better now, although my mouth was very dry. Masky, the man I met earlier peaked his head through a doorway. He nodded at me and carried out a glass of water and two capsules ."Take these, you'll feel better."
I took a drink of water, "But I already feel better."
He continued to hold the capsules out to me and I reluctantly took them. I finished the glass of water in three gulps and Masky took the glass. He offered his hand and I took it. He led me through the manor house. The place was rather large. I tried to remember the path we took, but we turned down so many hallways that I gave up. The floors were a dark wood, probably spruce, the walls were painted a dull white, almost grey. The place was clean, too clean for a manor this size. He stopped in front of a door and knocked. It opened and he ushered me inside, closing the door and leaving me alone with the faceless man. I took a seat in the only chair I could see other than the one he sat in.
"You're the one from my dreams."
"That is me, yes. But those were not dreams child," He paused, "When you saw the manor there was a.. invisible box around you, no?"
"You could say that."
"That 'box' was the physical limitations put on to your subconscious. Physically you were not here, but consciously you were. If you noticed, I was the only one who could see you."
I nodded, "But why was I here during those moments?"
"When you were born, you're mother begged your father to send you away. She believed that lifestyle was no good for you. You were to return to your father at the age of sixteen and choose whether you wanted to live the way he does or the way the humans do."
"Why didn't he come then?" I asked a hint of anger in my voice
"I do not know. Neither I nor my brothers have heard from him in quite some time. Some believe he is with Zalgo in the underworld. Time there is.. different."
"Well that's fantastic! My father's on vacation while I've been stuck miserably in the human world." I crossed my arms over my chest and huffed
"I understand your anger child but try to hold your temper."
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Please, call me Slender. We are family after all."
"But of course Slender. Do continue."
"Yes, now where was I? Oh right, time on the underworld is different. How different I am unsure. Years could be seconds. There is no way to contact him if he is there. It is just a waiting game."
"What if he comes for me and I'm not home? How will he find me?"
"There are signs at your place of residence to indicate your whereabouts."
"Are you saying I have to go back to that hell hole? Slender you can't make me go!"
"Fear not child. You will stay with me here at my manor."
I sighed I'm relief. Slender called for Hoodie. Hoodie entered the room and offered me his hand just as Masky had done. I took it and he led me out of the room and back through the manor house. Again I tried to remember the path and failed. Finally I was led upstairs onto a room that looked similar to my old one. Hoodie left my presence and closed the door behind him. I sat on the bed and remembered the flask in my pocket. I took it out and took a few swigs before hiding it under my pillow and passing out from exhaustion.
