~~*~~Eight Months Ago~~*~~
I couldn't help but smile as I danced carelessly on the very edge of a cliff.
"Briar, be careful." Tristian, warned as his eyes filled with what I could only assume was worry.
"Calm down." I laugh, holding out my hands. "Join me. You'll feel free I promise. Every single bad thought, and worry will go away."
The frown on his face got even bigger. "I seriously doubt that."
"Come on." I reached my hand out even further. "You know you wanna."
I could see the wheels turning in his head. He let out a quiet sigh before taking my hand and whispering, "I don't know what I'm going to do with you."
He pulled me into him and I rested my head on his chest.
"I love you." I whispered so quietly it sounded like a breath.
He placed a kiss on my forehead and I could feel him smiling. "I love you too, Briar Roux."
We started to slow dance and the closer we danced to the edged the tighter Tristan would hold my waist. We were so close to the edge that if he'd loosened his grip even just a little bit I probably would've fallen.
A moment like that should've been romantic, it should've signified how dangerously in love we were and I should've been excited...but I wasn't.
The smile on my face had slowly faded. I didn't feel anything. I was dancing on the edge of a cliff with a boy who's probably the love of my life and I didn't feel a damn thing. Like I was just existing. I felt like I wanted to die- no-like I was already dead.
"Tris." I say as my eyes filled with tears. "Let me go."
I felt his body stiffen up and he stopped moving. "What?" He asked in disbelief.
"We-we can say it was an accident. That we were playing around I got too close to edge and I-I slipped and you tried to save me but it-"
"You actually put thought into this shit?" He yelled. "What? You thought you'd talk me into coming here with you and the convince me to murder you. You have been being careless and acting weird for months. What the fuck is wrong with your Briar?"
I blinked away tears. "You're scaring me."
"No you're scaring me." He hissed. "You just asked me to toss you off a damn cliff. Are you off your fucking meds? What would even possess you to ask me that Briar?"
My eyes fell to the ground. "You said you loved me. You'd do anything for the person you love.."
He took a deep breath and placed his hand on my cheek. He traced my jaw with his thumb and gave me a sad smile. "I do and I would. But I draw the line at murder. I'm going to take you to get some help, okay baby? Just- just let me take you home."
I fought back tears as I shook my head. "Tristian I'm not going home. I can't do it anymore."
"Do what? Be with me?"
"No." I hiccuped. "You're the only things that's kept me here for so long. But I can't pretend anymore, I can't be that perfect girl who everyone is depending on."
