The Ending

LOVE SCENE AHEAD

I walked into the bedroom that Shera had prepared for our overnight stay and closed the door behind me. Stepping out of the jeans and dirty shirt I had worked in all day had me feeling like a new woman as I headed for the bathroom. I stopped to give Lucy a quick kiss atop her head as she dreamed peacefully into the night. After supper, Cid and Vincent had taken her outside to catch the infamous firebirds…or as I always had called em, lightning bugs. The electrical current running through the tiny little creatures had Lucy laughing and smiling as Cid captured each one in a jar and handed it to her. The whole activity had her exhausted and as I turned the water on in the shower, she didn’t move a muscle in her slumber. I knew that she was enjoying her stay with the Highwinds and wondered if they would want to babysit as I felt two arms wrap around my naked torso.

“I thought you were still sitting with Cid.”

“I wanted you.”

Vincent kept his head buried in my back for a moment before turning me around to kiss me heavily on the mouth. The intensity of it had me reaching out to steady myself on the wall of the shower. He didn’t stop and before I knew it, the water was running down over my body and his clothed one.

“What was that for?”

“I wanted you.”

And he kissed me again, even stronger this time, fierce. As if the world would suddenly collapse around us. I didn’t question it though and suddenly I was pulling at his shirt, his pants, his shoes…anything to get him into my current physical state. His arms rested on the wall on both sides of my head as I finally removed his headband, letting the last article holding him fall soundly to the wet, ceramic tile. As if it were a signal to ‘GO’, the sound made Vincent grab both my thighs and lift me to him while pressing me harder against the shower wall. We stayed like this for a moment as his lips traveled down to my collar bone. I closed my eyes as he made a path through the steam. “VINCENT!”
