The four of them were still like corpses. All of their faces dark. They were infuriated to the point that a burst of furious power shot out of them unintentionally that rattled the palace.
Tremor could be felt throughout hell. The demons that were weak couldn't withstand the shockwave and died instantly and the demons that were a little strong hide in their holes with their tails between their legs.
Amaymon sighed heavily and left. The others followed suit. When they got to their homes piles after piles of documents were delivered to each of them. Different types of roars and howls could be heard everywhere.
It was enough to terrorize all hell. The demons were scared shitless. No one slept that night in fear of not knowing what will happen next.
A month passed by and there was no news on Lucifer. Corson was half buried in the documents that were delivered to him the other day. When Asmodalius came with a report.
"Your Highness, we haven't found the person responsible for souls that were lost but we have located some of them".
Corson was scribbling is the documents, "Where are they?"
"Some possessed the living and some are haunting houses, malls, school etc. ".
"Send someone to reap them".
Asmodalius smiled apologetically, "We can't. We are short on hand since the King left. There are many things for us to take care of".
"Ask the other Kings if they can spare us someone".
"The situation is the same everywhere. I don't think it will be possible".
'That damn thing', Corson thought while imaging Lucifer winking at him. 'Why did this incident have to happen in the area that I govern'.
Asmodalius was worried about Corson. No matter how strong a demon is it still needs to rest even if its for an hour. His eyes were tired from all the reading and writing. He was tired, he was vexed.
"Your Highness, why don't you take a little break", he voiced his concern.
Even Corson knew he needed a break, 'a little break won't do any harm'.
"Fine. You also take a break". He gazed at his drained assistant.
"You worrying about me is enough. Then I shall take my leave".
Corson did some more work. When he decided to take a break, it was past dusk. He got up from his chair and settled down on the sofa. He felt more tired when he laid down.
'Just an hour', he thought.
It was well past midnight when he abruptly woke up. The room was dark.
'Shit its dark, how long did I sleep for? I better get back to work'. whenever he thought of work, he couldn't help but remember the person responsible for it.
He has unconsciously crushed many pens in half while thinking of it as a neck of a certain someone. He opened the drawer to take out a new pen when he saw the orb lying there.
'it's still here'.
It was glowing the same way as it did before. He studied the orb when he had a notion.
'Why don't we use her? Our hands are full and each person counts. She is not registered yet so it won't be a problem sending her secretly. If the demon responsible for this mess is among us than this girl....' he looked out of the window lost in his thoughts.
In the morning a person was in the study with Corson. He was wearing an black suit. "Your highness, you called for me".
"Asmodalius, how are you feeling? Did you rest?"
"Thanks to Your Highness, I did".
Corson snapped his fingers and a barrier appeared around the two of them. the barrier prevents anyone from listening to their conversation.
"A barrier". Asmodalius whispered to himself he was in awe when he saw the barrier.
'The barrier is so powerful. To conjure it with just a snap of his fingers. How long will it take me to reach that level?'
"I've already found someone".
"Who?". Asmodalius came back to his senses and replied hurriedly.
"That?" he pointed at the orb. "We'll send that."
Asmodalius looked at where Corson pointed and he was confused for a moment when realization hit him. he was suppose to collect it on his next visit nut he totally forgot about it.
"But, why her? she's just a lowly human".
"According to furcas she's not. She's half demon but a weak one". Asmodalius was still hesitant.
"Shax was the one who investigated this matter. Did you remember what he reported?".
"Yes, he found traces of a demon near the body of the reaper. But he didn't know who it was?"
"Shax is the best in this field. If even he couldn't point him out it means the demon is stronger than we thought. He masked his presence well. That's why we will use this".
He grabbed the orb and played with it. Meanwhile inside the orb the girl was having a panic attack after listening to their conversation.
'They want ME to reap souls. ME. An insignificant human being'. She cried out in disbelief.
'Please let me be. I'm fine right here'. she thought dejectedly. 'And why can't he use proper pronouns using 'it' or 'that'. It's a 'she', She scoffed.
"We don't know what his level is. But If he is among us then it would be better to send this secretly without him noticing".
"Reaping souls is not easy. How will she do this?. Even if she's half demon we still can't entrust her with this job."
"I know its not easy. But for now she's our best shot. He must've planted spies otherwise we would have solved this a 100 years ago".
'That damn thing murdered whoever we send to retrieve the souls'. Annoyance could be seen on Corson face.
"Find this thing a teacher or better yet teach it yourself".
Asmodalius was startled that Corson would pick him. He was happy to know that His Highness would want him to handle such an important matter. This matter has caused great disturbance. It would have been resolved quickly if the Emperor would've stayed in hell instead of frolicking around the human world. He sighed inwardly.
Asmodalius wanted to say yes but he was just too busy. Teaching her would take time and effort. He had no choice but to decline.
"Your Highness, I'm sorry but I've to decline. Many of them are performing rituals more gruesome than the next. Me and my men are busy dealing with these".
""They must have a lot of free time."
"They are bored. This a new form of entertainment for them. The rich even pay the poor to perform these heinous activities. They found this excitement thrilling".
Everything was calm when Furcas examined the orb but after listening to the two of them talk a storm started to brew inside the mist.
