Sharingan no Rin

Chapter 2

Rin wakes up to sunlight shining on her, her eyes open to see a counter in front of her and finds that she’s lying down on the cold, hard floor of her kitchen. She sluggishly pushes her body to sit up while staring dazedly at her at the floor. She reaches a hand up and lets her fingers dance lightly under her eyes, feeling them quite swollen from her episode last night. She sighs and stands up and begins making her way to the bathroom. That’s when she stops mid-step and hiss out a curse as she remembers that she has a survival test with the Team 7. She looks at the clock to see that, it has already been pass 5 a.m. She hurries around her house to make herself look more presentable rather than looking like she had a breakdown just last night.

She grabs a bag and three bentos and rushes out the front door. As soon as she was outside her house, she took off in a run and jumps atop the roofs of the buildings as a faster way to rush towards where Team 7 are most likely waiting. When the training ground came into view to her, she jumps down to the ground and began leisurely walking towards the students, who were clearly waiting for her arrival.

Rin lazily raise a hand and fake smile with her eye, as soon as they notice her presence, “Hey everyone, hope you weren’t waiting for too long.  Sorry I’m late~ I saw a black cat and decided to take the long route around it. I didn’t want to end up getting curse, you know~ I’m sure you know the myth about the black cat curse.” She giggles lightly as Naruto and Sakura exclaimed in anger and annoyance at her obvious fake excuse.

She giggles and walks over to three wooden poles. She drops her bag down to the ground and takes out a clock timer and places it atop the middle pole and presses a button on it setting it at 12:00. Rin proceeded to explain to the students about what they’ll be doing. She took out a pair of bells from her pocket, “Today, you’ll be taking these two bells away from me. You have until noon to capture them.” Rin shakes the bell, causing it to make jingling sounds that seems to be mocking the Genin to try and capture them. “Those who fail to take these bells from me will not be getting any lunch.” Rin inclines her head to the right and the Genins look towards the direction to see the wooden poles. Rin points at the directions of the poles, “Those who have failed will be tied over there and will be forced to watch me eat my lunch in front of your adorable eyes.”

The Genins sweat-drop as their facial features suffering and irritated looks at their sensei. “There are only two bells because, only two members in this team will be able to succeed and the person who doesn’t manage to grab a bell will fail and thus be sent back to the Academy.” The students tense up as soon as those words were out of Rin. “Ne, relax you guys~ No need to suddenly look so tense like that. If you want you can use shurikens, kunais and ninjutsus against me. You won’t be able to succeed unless you actually come at me as if you’re intending to kill me.”

“B-But won’t you end up being in danger!?” Sakura voices out her concern, as she looks uncomfortable and worried at Rin. Naruto bursts out laughing as he boldly exclaims, “Yeah, you’ll definitely end up getting killed by us at this rate since you’re quite slow. You weren’t even able to dodge a black-board eraser!!”

Rin smiles underneath her mask and smiles with her eye as well, then with an all too ‘sweet’ tone in her voice bluntly states, “In the real world of being a shinobi, those who have not much talent and skills in them are all bark and no bite. Honestly, all they will do is bark the loudest. Anyways, why don’t we just ignore Mr. DeadLast and get on with the test shall we, Sakura and Sasuke?”

As predicted, Naruto had let his anger get to him as soon he opened his kunai pouch and took out the weapon to charge towards Rin. However, before he could so much as take two steps to Rin, he’s suddenly in a chokehold with his knees to the ground and the tip of the kunai in between his eyes. Naruto gulps and grits his teeth as he feels Rin shifting behind him and letting out a huff as she looks at him with a dangerous glint in her eye. “Ne, calm down Naruto. I hadn’t exactly told you to start just yet.” Both Sakura and Sasuke tense up as they look shocked and wary at Rin, as if they have finally realized that Rin is a Jonin and that this is the power of being a Jonin.
