Eric adjusted his bowler hat as he took a seat on one of the stools kept in front of the bar counter. Subsequently, he looked back to glance at prince Charming, who stared at him through the thick rimmed glasses he wore, while Pase was sitting next to the prince on one of the round tables in the middle of the tavern.
The three were disguised as much as they could. The knight was wearing a black suit, a black wig and a derby accompanied by an eccentric bamboo cane. The prince was wearing suspenders and spectacles to imitate a dandy, while Pase who wanted to keep things simple and not pursuit Charlie Chaplin like Eric did, only wore his usual cloak with some magic powdered over his face to make his skin turn into a chestnut brown, unlike its normal green complexion.
Eric thought Pase looked kinda good that way.
And his prince.. Well, he didn't look that bad either. Just a bit similar to a lumberjack, a perverted lumberjack. Not bad at all.
"What can I get for you, gentleman?"
Eric snapped his attention towards the sound of the voice, smiling in profuse anxiety while seeing the bartender; who was a lady in her mid twenties, looking at his frame while leaning against the counter boredly. She wore a black corset that enclosed her waist area tightly. A birdcage veil hung down her bonnet which was prettified with flowers. And her skirts fell in folds down her legs as a bustle rested behind her navy blue petticoat.
Her lips were cherry red. Nails were long and painted pink. Eyes were blue, like the prince's, but few shades lighter. Yet the part of her that stood out the most for Eric was her strikingly bright red hair, which made the knight anxious as he was instantly reminded of his sister.
'Not now Eric.' he told himself and opened his mouth to speak, "I would prefer beer, but I wouldn't mind even if it's cocktail."
The tapster nodded and ran her hands through shelves of alcohol. Eric stared at her swaying red hair for a bit before turning behind to see what the other two might be up to. He was surprised to see Henry glaring at him from where he stayed, while Pase was gaping at the archaic antiques and tapises that were affixed to the walls.
The knight couldn't help but wonder why the prince was angry, but before he could think about anything else, he was dumbfounded to see a set of guards- (probably a few who were supposed to guard a duke's office or maybe a viscount's one, Eric wasn't sure.)- staggered in through the door of the inn and three of them wordlessly sat on the remaining stools around the table where Charming and Pase were at.
He could notice the anger dissipating from Henry's face as it was overtaken by pure distress. The sentinels' grumpy voices yelled out their orders, "Oi lady, gimme some beer!" one griped, "Wine! Wine! Wine!" another said, making the rest of the customers take short glimpses at them, mortified. The prince was gritting his teeth while the guards continued singing in loud voices and talking about things that borne no importance, the magician on the other hand, was trying to get into their conversation.
"Hello sirs, are you perhaps from the capital?" asked Pase, looking at the men who were talking. One of the three sentinels, who had a frown growing in his balbo bearded face, turned to the magician as the other two also did the same. They undoubtedly fell to the big boned-side, since all three of their bellies were flabby and bouncy like barrels.
The first one had an unusual coiffure; the type of haircut your mom would give you when she's too lazy to take you to a salon. The second one had a notorious balbo beard, and the third one who looked a bit younger than the rest, had a significantly giant nose.
"What is it to you, mother fucker?"
"Yes, fucker. What is it to you?"
"Why are you even talking to us, fucker?"
