Chapter 37.5, I guess?

Mariko's POV

Say, how long has it been? How long have we been friends?

When did we even met and how?

"..."

Opening my eyes, I only see a stoned pathway in front of me. I look around seeing nothing but darkness.

"Am I in my dream?" hearing only my voice as it echoes.

I took a step on the pathway, my breath hitching as the environment changes and so as my clothes.

Soon, sounds of people walking, birds cawing, and kids running around the streets.

"Where am I?" Two kids starts to run to my way, not looking where they're going.

"I'm in the interment zone?" the place feeling familiar as I continue to walk around.

"Come back here!" a small blonde boy yelled.

"Please! Like I will!" a kid that's about the same size as the boy, puts their tongue out playfully.

The kid suddenly crashed to me.

"Are you okay?" I saw them more detailed. It was a girl, with brown and black-ish hair and wears a yellow armband.

"O-ouch.. "

"I-i'm so sorry, ma'am!" the blonde boy caught up with us. "They didn't meant to bump into you!" he apologizes to his cousin.

"It's okay." he looks at my arm and he noticed an armband.

The kid starts to open their eyes.

"Oh my, uhm. I'm sorry." they stood up and brushes their clothes off.

I look at the both of them and they seemed about to be 10 years old.

"I told your cousin it's fine, and would you mind not calling me 'Ma'am'. It makes me feel old."

"How old are you, ma'-" their cousin covers their mouth.

"She already told you that don't call her that! And we need to give respect!" he whisper yelled.

"Eh? Why is that?!"

"She's a Warrior." he pointed at me.

"I'm only 14, if that's what you're asking."

The two continues to ask questions as time passes.

"I think we better leave now. It's nice seeing you!"

"By the way, Maomi." I lightly gasp.

"'Maomi'?"

"What is it now, Reiner?"

"I wanna introduce you to someone!"

"Really?!" he nodded vigorously.
"It's a race then!" they started to run.

"Wha- you don't even know where she is!" he chases down his cousin.

"Wait a minute!" I ran after them, but as soon I took another step. Everything changes. The kids turning to dust, everything turns to dust and flew away.

Only the stoned pathway stayed.

"What is happening?"

Curious, I walk to the stoned pathway,  and it happened again.

Everything appeared and I'm in another place.

I was just near the entrance of the training grounds.
