You Call it Change-
and I Call it Revenge
Chapter 3: The Reason
Three Years Ago- 6:00 p.m.
"Kids, Jen I'm back!" my Dad's voice echoed from downstairs. My brother and I were so excited to see him, we haven't seen him in weeks. We asked mom why he's been gone, she told us he's been on some type of business trip.
My twin and I raced down the hall to see our dad, George. I can't believe he's back, I missed him so much. My dad missed my first boyfriend...first soccer game...first party...and my thirteenth birthday. Too busy with his job. See, my dad works at a place called Matthews Corp. Our family is filthy rich, but I don't bother spending the money...I mean he gave me a huge fund that has $90,000.
I hugged my dad, looked up at him with a goofy smile, "Dad, you don't know how much I missed you!"
"Missed you too kiddo," he said ruffling Brad's hair, but the way he spoke made me realize something was wrong, way wrong.
"How have you been Dad?" Brad asked.
"I've been great son!" my dad said with fake enthusiasm.
I know something is up, something's wrong. I can tell, his voice is always full of happiness and confidence. Now it's just guilt and pain. Why? I think I will find out, no I WILL find out. Why is he guilty?
"DINNER!" I hear my mom yell from the kitchen. The house smelt like spaghetti and French bread, delicious. The three of us walked, laughed, and enjoyed each other as we walked to the kitchen to eat. Our family just sat and talked about random topics. My Dad's trip. School. Soccer. Baseball. Birthdays. Well we even caught him up on everything he missed over the weeks...and he told us everything about his trip. Then suddenly the phone rang.
"Kids, George can we let it just ring? I mean you just got home, and it's our first dinner together in weeks. Let it ring Hun," my mom said in a motherly tone.
"Y-y-y-y-yeah we can uh uh l-l-l-l-let it r-ring," my dad stuttered, going pale.
"Dear are you alright?" my
mom questioned, raising an eyebrow suspiciously.
"Y-yeah I'm fine," he said turning away. The phone stopped ringing, and our answering machine went off. I heard an unfamiliar voice speaking, "Uhm Georgey? When you didn't answer your cell phone, I decided to call your house phone...see tell your family next week that we have a business *giggle* meeting, but this time I'm doing as you ask , baby...*giggle*" and the phone hung up.
I looked at my mom, and I saw an unknown look, but I could easily read it. Hurt. Pain. Confusion. Anger. Sadness. My mom was never known for yelling at anyone, today is a different day.
"George, care to explain?"
"Jennifer, don't worry maybe some kids were just prank calling."
"George no, you-you have been cheating on me!!!! FOR WEEKS," my mom screamed. My dad flipped the table, and a glass came off the table and flew towards my face, cutting my face a long silvery cut.
"BRAD!" I screamed running my hands down my face, and my parents were still arguing.
"Here!" he handed me a towel, " I'm calling the police."
Brad's POV
I picked up the phone, and called the police.
"Hello what's your emergency?"
"Hello? I need help, my sister is bleeding her entire face was cut so she needs help, please." I said almost crying.
"Son, what happened?" the women questioned.
"My mom and my family found out my dad cheated on my mom and she confronted him and he got angry and he flipped the table and a cup hit her and the cup broke on her face and then she started screaming for help and my parents are still arguing-" I was babbling now, speaking fast.
"Don't worry help is on the way," the women said.
--In Court 2 Weeks Later--
June's POV
"It's settled, Juniper Ann Matthews is now in full custody of Jennifer, using her maiden name, Jennifer Blue. Jennifer Blue you get monthly child support and Juniper Matthews you get to keep the trust fund that has been supplied with over fifty thousand dollars," the judges voice echoed. "As for you, George Mattews, you have full custody of Bradley Matthews. You must pay child support and can not be five hundred feet near Miss Blue. Case dismissed." After saying that, we all walked out of the court, but before we did my once lovingly scared brother said in my ear, "So, my lovely twin, where's daddy going to be these days?," he chuckles evilly and continues, "he's with Meagan now, am I right? Ha, you're weak spineless..a bitter fool leaving. I will enjoy this separation, my lovely twin, June Matthews." After all that happened, me and my mom walked out of the court, and I was rubbing my hand across my now scared face.
