She compensates for her lost family by imagining that they are still there.
People fake parental love for her.

The stick tubes in to its back for support and clone its skin cells to mask the places it didn't grow.
They make mechanical pumps to ensure its pulls

Her heart is irregular and always hurting she figures its because she's so sad or from the burns.

Its heart and eyes get gangrene
They replace the heart and eye with a donated heart

She is not allowed to go anywhere outside of orphanage.
She tries to run away a lot, but is held "hostage"

The gangrene spreads
The fetus is alive but has no arms or legs as it does not seem to grow much.
