Hours had passed by in minutes, the shadows crept from one side of the room to the other. A knock echoed into the empty space. The orange sun hung low in the sky, and another knock echoed. With a sudden start, Techno looked around the room. Then, the door squeaked open, a cautious voice spoke up."Sir Techno? I was told you are feeling ill, may I see you?"
The man stepped into the room. His boots slowly clicked and tapped around the bed, finally setting eyes on Techno.
"Are you feeling alright? Can you stand?"
Techno put his head down, grumbling "I'm fine."
"My name is Harmon, I'm a doctor. I was hoping you could tell me about your visions?"
There was no response. The doctor prodded further, "Perhaps you should lay on the bed, if it would be more comfortable?"
After a moment, Doctor Harmon sat down in front of Techno. "You look exhausted, would you like something to eat?"
Techno's stomach growled on cue, and the doctor smiled as he stood up, "I'll be right back."
He watched the doctor leave, the door being locked behind him. Techno looked at the shackle on his leg and fiddled with it until the doctor returned. Without taking his eyes off the clasp, he listened as the doctor moved things around the room. Scents of fresh bread, tea, and pork enveloped Techno. As silverware was placed on a table, his stomach grumbled.
"Sir Techno, your supper is only getting colder," chimed Doctor Harmon.
Reluctantly, the pink haired mess stood and turned. Before him was the doctor, sitting at a blackwood table pushed against the bed. The doctor reclined and watched Techno slide over. Sitting on the edge of his bed, Techno glanced between the man and the food.
"You take milk with your tea, yes? And no sugar?" The doctor affirmed, pouring a splash of milk into two cups of tea. He set one next to Techno, then sipped his own.
Techno silently took it as Doctor Harmon studied him. He stared at the hot liquid and frowned as he drank, quickly downing the entire cup. Setting it down and picking up the utensils, the knight ate his pork. The doctor saw the bags under Techno's eyes, and how his hands shook while he ate. In silence, he poured another cup of tea, then took out his notebook and scribbled some words. Once the food was eaten, the doctor resumed his questions.
"Alright, let's get back to it. Your father told me you were seeing someone. Can you tell me more about that?"
"It's Schlatt," Techno said matter-of-factly.
The doctor narrowed his eyes, "The former king?"
Techno chuckled, "This is useless, there's nothing you could do about it."
"If you talk to me then I will cure any ailment you have"
Relaxing somewhat, Techno picked up the cup and sipped. He sighed, "It's some sort of curse, certainly. He dealt in dark magic, it was inevitable that something of this sort would arise."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah, we even..." Techno stopped, a bit surprised at how far his guard had dropped.
Doctor Harmon looked up from his notebook, "You even... what?"
"Right, we uh..." he shook his head, and put his face into his hands, "What is wrong with me?"
"You are going to be fine, my knight," softly spoke a familiar voice.
Techno almost jumped out of his seat, looking up to find Arabelle sitting next to the doctor. Leaning forward, Techno put his hands on the table and reached for her. Arabelle placed a hand on his.
