"Don't worry! Baking is fun!"
Eda, you fucking moron.
It was the first day of freshman year, and Eda and Raine were walking to school as usual.
"So, I was thinking maybe we could join a baking class together?"
"That's actually a good idea, i've seriously never eaten bread"
"Wait, really!? I cant believe im friends with someone whos never eaten bread"
"Yeah, I don't know either. I guess my parents never had it in the house?"
"Well, don't worry! Baking is fun!"
Once eda and raine got to school, they had to go separate paths so raine could put their violin case in their music locker. Then, Eda found Lilith right before the bell rang.
"So apparently raines never eaten bread before!?"
"Lucky, bread is the worst. I wouldn't make even my worst enemy eat that shit."
"Says the ginger."
"Edalyn, your hair is more orange than mine."
Right as lilith could grab her books from her locker, the bell screamed and eda and lilith had to get to the potions homeroom.
~lunch break~
Eda sat at her usual lunch table, back row on the right, that's where she, Lilith, and Raine have been sitting since the beginning of 8th grade. While she waited for Raine, Lilith came over to sit down with her. Potions class gets out early on Wednesdays for some reason. After about 15 minutes, Raine finally came over to the table.
"Hey!!! Eda!!"
"Raine!! Why are you so slow!?!? Probably the lack of bread"
"Says the ginger who got last place in the track race last year"
"Shh!! I told Lily that I got 2nd!!"
"I heard that- uh- 'ginger'!!"
"Anyway, you signed up for the baking class right?"
"Yeah i did, but so many people were trying to write their names i almost got my glasses broken."
"Shame honestly if they actually got broken you wouldn't be a four eyes like Lily"
"I need these to see!! Anyway i heard our first class is after school from 3:30 to 4:30"
~ after school~
Eda had the room number written down on her wrist, Room 666. It took her way longer than she expected for her to find it, but she wasn't late.
"Alright everyone, welcome to your first day of baking class! Today, we will be making a simple tray of popping seed muffins. Now I will let you choose your partner and your working space, but you can't change after today so choose wisely!"
Eda immediately made eye contact with raine.
"I'm so glad you made it!! Now, where should we sit?"
"uhhhh i like that one"
It was the desk right next to the door, Eda always chose those desks.
"Now that everyone has a partner and desk, Im going to start passing out ingredients. Remember eggs are fragile, and i cant give you more if you break them."
Raine looked at Eda with a stern face. Eda was very clumsy, especially around breakable objects. Eda looked back and gave Raine a goofy grin that told them 'Don't worry, I love eggs!!'
Once they got their two eggs, Raine told Eda
"Let me handle these, I don't need the most clumsy girl in school messing up our only eggs."
Eda knew they meant it in a sarcastic way, but Eda got all defensive and barked out
"What do you MEAN?? I literally got 2nd place in the – uh – balance competition!"
Raine raised one eyebrow
"Right, just like how you got second place in the track race last year?"
Eda looked away and then gave Raine the 'Fine' hand.
Then, the teacher started passing out the flour, milk, butter, popping seeds, sugar, and lastly, oil.
"Yuck, I hate oil." Eda said while wiping her hands off on her uniform after handing the owhyiamialive oil to Raine.
"Damn, I guess I'm doing all the baking then, since you want to give everything to me, Eh?" Raine questioned with a lousy smirk.
"Oh, shut up, I'll —uh— mix it of course!!."
Raine gave Eda a light punch on the arm, as they usually do when one of them is being annoying. Eda blushed, and then noticed the teacher was heading back to the front of the classroom to start giving instructions.
"Now that you have all of your ingredients, I want you to mix everything together in the bowl in front of you. I already measured everything so you have nothing to worry about."
Raine and Eda started opening up the little ziplock bags and pouring them into the bowl. (Raine handled the oil, of course.)
"Once you have everything in the bowl, I want you to get out the hand mixers and mix everything up."
Eda had mastered animation magic, so using the mixer was no problem. But Raine pointed out that most of the other students seemed to have real trouble mixing their ingredients, which Raine and Eda giggled at for a minute before being busted for 'bullying'.
After a bit, the teacher spoke again.
"Okay, now put your batter into the tray found in the drawer next to you, make sure to use a good amount of cooking oil to lubricate the tray first."
