Alright, spill." Alice says as soon as we got to our shared room.

"What's there to spill?" I asked innocently.

"Oh please Vi, that scene back there had enough electricity to power New York for a month." She said bouncing up and down.

"He has a girlfriend." I reminded her.

"So?"

"So I can never act on my feelings." I groaned, lying down on the bed.

"Ooooooo" my sister squealed, "Viola has feeelings."

"Shut up."

"Never."

I rolled my eyes.

"So, you like Ace?" Alice asked, suddenly serious.

There was no point in avoiding the question. We were bound to have this talk sooner or later.

"Maybe." I replied, not looking at her.

"Come on. Tell me all the details. I kneed to know everything."

"There are no details. I spoke to him once that's it,"

"Liar. Come on Vi, I promise I won't tell." Alice begged.

"Fine. I may or may not have a very tiny, almost minuscule crush on Ace."

"Since when?"

"I don't know. Since yesterday."

"What happened yesterday?"

"We met by the lake and talked a bit."

She squealed again.

"Nothing happened. I swear."

"Really? So what was that today?"

"We sparred. He won. That's it."

"He nearly kissed you." She said.

"What? No. If anyone nearly kissed anyone, it would be me. He definitely didn't nearly kiss me, he has a girlfriend." I argued.

I couldn't let Alice plant false hopes inside me. Why would Ace even like me? I was a cold, dead, dangerous creature. He would never choose me over his warm, human girlfriend.

"Do you think he's your..." She didn't finish the sentence.

"What? No. A vampire falling in love with a mortal is insane." I said, but I knew it wasn't true."Don't tell Edward that." She joked, but then

her face turned serious again, "But is he?"

I thought back to the way I felt when he caught me in the arena. The fireworks that had erupted in my stomach, the warmth that had spread through my cold limbs and the urge to kiss him there and then. Even now, three minutes after we had last seen each other, I missed him. I wished that I could sit close to him, like the evening by the lake.

"Yeah. Yeah, he is."
