Sarah Brown, the daughter of one of the best scholars in Sparks, also being Jazmine's childhood bully. That is until lately, she had moved to Sparks. But Jazmine was never expecting to see her as again, especially as her boss. Sarah spun in her chair as she stood up. "Well, so long no see." Sarah laughed. Jazmine sighed, knowing that her time in the café would be the worst.
"Sarah!" they heard someone shout. Jazmine glanced behind Sarah's shoulder and saw Sarah's mother, Mrs. Brown, walking in. "Ah! You must be Iris. I'm Mrs. Brown, the boss." Mrs. Brown glanced over at Sarah. "I see you met my daughter. Her name is Sarah." Jazmine was trying hard not to laugh as she saw Sarah's face turn red in anger.
"I'll take you to the other staff." Jazmine followed Mrs. Brown to the front of the café. "By the way, I'm going on a holiday to Paris. Sarah will be the one who will be telling you what to do." she stopped and checked her Rolex watch. "Oh goody me goodness me! I am going to be late for my flight. Au revoir!"
Jazmine stared at Mrs. Brown as she rushed out of the café, almost tripping over herself. Jazmine gulped. She turned around with an uneasy smile. "Please have mercy on me!" Jazmine shouted. "Not today Iris, not today..." Sarah laughed. "You'll have a shift till..." Sarah gave a glimpse at the clock ad then back at Jazmine. "Till 8." Sarah thurst her hair back and marched into the boss's office. Right then, a customer walked in. "Better begin my work then," She thought to herself.
Her time was nearly up. Jazmine was washing the dishes when two girls came up to her. One of them was blonde with hazel brown eyes, while the other one had olive-toned skin color with light brown eyes. "Hi!" the brown girl greeted. "My name is Rosie, and this is Lily." "My name is Iris... OMG! I'm late! Uhh, I'll talk to you in the evening." Jazmine excused herself out. She went to her apartment and got ready quickly.
She marched out of the building and to her high school, Sparks High. Jazmine got her timetable from the principal. "First lesson-Math." A wide grin spread across her face as she walked towards her class. The first face that she'd wanted to see when she opened the door was never Sarah's. Jazmine stepped back in surprise, eying Sarah from head to toe.
"If it isn't Iris the Flower!" the girls standing beside Sarah started laughing. "Iris the Flower! Good one, Sarah!" one of them said. Jazmine pushed them all aside and made her way through the door. She was walking to the only empty seat on the back when she heard a familiar voice. "Hey, Iris!" she turned around unwillingly to see Rosie and Lily right in front of her. You could imagine her surprise. "Wanna sit with us?" Lily asked. "Sure! Why not?" The rest of Jazmine's day was spent talking, chattering, and laughing along with her newly found friends.
While she was working that day, she heard an announcement from the palace. "Dear people," The messenger began. "As you know, our honorable Prince Robin's birthday is coming up. The prince has announced that he would like to have a masquerade for his 22nd birthday. All ladies and gentlemen, wear your most treasured and elegant clothes. And please do wear a mask." At this, she started grinning. Rosie and Lily began squealing. "The prince has a ball every year for his birthday. But a masquerade!" Jazmine stared at the messenger with wonder in her eyes. It was perfect to meet him and talk to him. And that too in person. "Should we go?" Jazmine asked. "Of course we should! The 14 of May is just one week away." "Shopping tonight?" Jazmine suggested. "Definitely!" Lily and Rosie said in one voice.
That was shopping for the best ball gown and a perfect mask. No matter how hard Jazmine tried, she could find one that she liked. What they didn't know was the fact that someone was observing them very closely. In the morning, when they came to the café, they were greeted by an angry Sarah. "You are not going to the Masquerade!" "There's no rule like that." Jazmine snapped back. "I am your boss and, you listen to me! You will not go to the Masquerade Ball!
