"I want you" Elmer confessed, even after everything that has transpired he still wants him and he didn't want to deny that fact any longer
"You shouldn't" Bert whispered his eyes cast down, he doesn't deserve anything from Elmer. Right now he should hate him, hate him more than anything, he shouldn't want to even look at his face
"I really want to hate you, I have tried so hard to hate you after everything after..." Elmer voiced out "I should hate you"
"I know, I'm sorry"
"Stop apologizing and actually do something about it" Elmer snapped, he had screamed on top of his lungs. He didn't need Bert to apologize "Stop telling me I deserve better as if I will be better without you something I have not managed to do even after what you have done. Even after everything I still want to be around you, I want to be with you I just....even after you choosing Ernest over me even at this moment you choosing what you think is good for me over me the man you have hurt so much yet I'm still here and still in love with you unconditionally.... you still don't want to give me a chance to choose what I really want"
Bert didn't know what to add because in his head he thought Elmer hates him as much as he hates himself and with his self loathing he still managed to screw this up again, he still managed to hurt Elmer even after he had told himself not to hurt him again he still managed to do exactly that "This is why you shouldn't love me, all I do is hurt you" he felt undeserving
"Why don't you let me decide if I want to continue getting hurt by you"
"I don't want to hurt you" Bert admitted "But I end up doing it"
"Are you going to hurt me?" Elmer asked closing the distance that was between their bodies, he needed a clear answer, he needed to know if Bert was really going to hurt him or not and that will determine what he wants at this moment, it will determine if he wants Bert in his life or not.
"I don't want to but I always do because I always think I am doing what is best yet...." He trailed off when Elmer's lips got attached to his, tingling sensations consumed his body tasting these lips that are connected to his after so long, so soft, so gentle, so sweet that Bert moved his hand right on the back of Elmer's head deepening that kiss when Elmer pulled back
"Just promise to hold me and never let go, that is all I want" Elmer whispered, their heads still connected. He needed to hear Bert say it, that is all he has ever wanted. To be held by Bert for forever, the past didn't matter as long as he ends up being held forever and never let go, from here only the future mattered
"I will-i will never let go ever again" Bert promised kissing Elmer again feeling so happy he didn't want to pull back from the kiss devouring those lips like he has been deprived all along, it has been so long since he actually got a taste and got kissed back with the same intensity promising himself to use this chance wisely, he wasn't going to waste it like the past chances
"I didn't mean suffocate me" Elmer panted out taking in deep breaths with a soft smile getting his lungs enough needed air. Bert pulled him into a hug Elmer felt all the emotions in that hug as he hugged back this time with the same love he feels, these are the moments he missed the most, hugging and forgetting that world around them is still moving, forgetting that the entire kingdom is after them with only one intention to kill them but all of that didn't matter, Elmer knew that with Bert he would never ask for more, he would never want anything better than just to have Bert because his heart is in one place "Hold me like this tonight" He whispered never wanting to let go of this embrace as they both laid down Bert making sure to wrap his hands around him still feeling like this was a dream.
Elmer was allowing to be touched by him, he was giving him another chance with only one promise to never let go. Bert doesn't think he will ever let go either, there was no way he was going to let go of Elmer ever and this time he wanted to use this chance wisely, he would die if Elmer left his life "I love you" he whispered slowly his nose in Elmer's neck who was once again putting down his walls for him "I love you so much"
"I love you" Elmer sounded sleepy as he yawned pushing himself even more into Bert's embrace closing his eyes letting the darkness engulf him once again in the arms of the man he loves, there was no place he wanted to be other than here
"Have some rest, I will be here" Bert mumbled pecking Elmer's head as he moved his hands all over Elmer's back, taking in deep breaths of his amazing scent. He dreamt of this day, so much, searching down the bottle for some relief at the craving he had for Elmer's lips, to be able to touch his skin, be just like this. He didn't know he will get to hear Elmer tell him he loves him or even be planning on running away together as they used talked about in the past when they thought Atlas was going to expose them to everyone
It hurt that Ernest is still getting away with everything even after so much he has done, still an innocent person was being blamed, he was running away and not because he has hurt anyone but because he was always been so kind that everyone saw an escape goat for everything they did.
Bert was going to make sure Elmer never faces any of it, he will make sure Elmer gets the life he deserves and he is finally free of this kingdom. He was never going to allow him to face the harshness of this kingdom no matter what it took..... Bert turned his head when he saw torch lights coming their way "Elmer, love get up" He called in a hurry, Elmer opened his sleepy eyes seeming to have been far when Bert woke him up. Bert put the fire out but it was too late, they had been spotted "We need to run now" he pulled Elmer's hand as they started running again while glancing behind once in a while to see how close the others were.
Bert was shocked when he saw another group coming from his left and soon there were others coming from their right, they were surrounded. Elmer wanted to pull out his sword but he left it back "Oh god's" he called, right now they were in big trouble. Bert closed his eyes, he can transport himself but it always doesn't take him very far and the way things were looking he might land in between the people who are searching for them if he makes a mistake. He focused once again, his eyes lighting green as he focused beyond the group that was in front of them with Elmer's hands in his he managed to transport them right behind the group. They wasted no time resuming to run but they were spotted right away
"This way" Someone yelled from behind having spotted them. Bert and Elmer didn't wait for anything and now that Elmer was fully awake they ran as if there was no tomorrow and indeed there was no tomorrow if they were to get caught by the people behind them. The chase was back on, an arrow hit right next to Elmer lodging into a tree in front of him
They gasped stopping in shock but didn't stop, turning to the left running as fast as they could but the people behind were catching on as they ran doing their best to dodge the spears and the arrows being shot their way, they didn't know if they could survive but they were running blind "Wait" Bert called breathing hard, he was exhausted and so was Elmer. He lifted his hands up and with so much power a green wave took over the forest passing through the people behind them and as they fell this gave the two time to continue running "We should go towards the lake, there has to be a boat. Let us get onto it and wherever it throws us, we will start from there until we find a safe place"
There was no running, they needed the quickest way out of Felstead
Elmer nodded breathing hard as he saw the torches disappearing in the distance. They had to be quick so that by the time the guards catch up they have already gotten out of Felstead, the accursed kingdom that Elmer wishes to never visit ever again in his life, now that he has Bert there is absolutely nothing that could bring him back to Felstead
He loathed not only the entire kingdom but each and every person that lives in it
