Pansexual (can be shortened to pan) is the attraction to people regardless of their gender.
Gender is not a factor in their attraction to someone.

Pansexuality is often compared/associated with other multisexual identities, such as omnisexual. It is similar to omnisexual, as they both involve attraction to all genders. Pansexual and omnisexual can be used interchangeably, and some people identify as both. However, a distinction can be made between the two.
Pansexuality is also often compared to bisexuality. As with omnisexual, some people can identify as both, or prefer one over the other. Some people choose pansexual over bisexual because it is more specific, and means attraction to all genders. Additionally, some people choose bisexual over pansexual because they feel attracted to only two genders.

The pansexual flag was created by shrikeabyssals in 2010. The meaning of the flag can be interpreted in different ways, but the most common is:
The pink stripe represents attraction to women.
The yellow stripe represents attraction to non-binary people
And the blue stripe represents attraction to men.
There are also several new/remade pansexual flags:
There are debates occurring as to whether or not the pansexual flags are valid.
A common pansexuality symbol is a P, with an arrow and crossed line. The cross on the line represents the cross on the female symbol ♀
The arrow represents the upwards facing arrow on the male symbol ♂

The prefix of pansexual (pan) comes from the Greek word, meaning all.
