I stood there, completely shocked by what I had just heard. We were all going to die because she couldn't fit her responsibilities as future Luna of the Blood Bone Pack.

"You tell Dad, or I will," I said before storming out of the room. I wanted to punch something, and I could only think to go to one place. I stormed across the palace over to the barracks where the warriors slept. He better be up, I thought.

Surely enough, he wasn't actually up. He was still asleep in his bed. His long hair was a mess over his eyes. I did learn something I never wanted to learn. He slept with his shirt off. His muscles were free from their normal constraints making his massive arms look...

I took a sharp breath before shaking him awake. I wanted to hit something, and he was a great punching bag.

"Dom. Get up!" They had grown up together, but he was made a warrior when he shifts due to his massive nature. He moved up pretty quickly in the pack; he is even thought to be picked as the next Gamma.

"Happy Birthday, Princess." He laughed; he called her princess to mock her. Basically rubbing in her face what she will never be.  "To what do I owe the honor of seeing you this morning."

He looked at her with his dark puppy dog eyes. Most of the girls in the pack melted at those eyes. Whenever they walked together, she would hear other girls in the pack swooning over his long dark hair or his muscles. I would always roll her eyes because, to me, he would always be that skinny little kid I met when we were five.

"I want to punch something," I said while pulling him out of his bed.

"What's the bastard doing here, Dom?" Another warrior growled from his sleep.

"Isn't it obvious? He is totally slumming it with her." Another laughed, Dom started to make his way to the mouthy one, but I got there before him. I placed my hand on his face and got real close to him. "It looks like the bastard likes me."

In a flash, I moved my arm to his throat and my hand to his mouth. But not before punching him so hard his jaw broke. He would heal before lunch, so it wasn't that big a deal to her.

"That mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble on the day." I could feel him struggling beneath me. I phased my fingers into claws; his eyes only got wider. "Maybe I should cut your vile and disgusting tongue out as a favor."

Okay, I have a bit of an anger problem. I removed my hand from his mouth and started to stroke the sides with my claw. He was breathing heavily but still managed to get one word out.

"Bitch."

"Bitch or Bastard. You should really get it straight as to what I am." I spat at him.

"Alright, that's enough now." Dom put his hand on my shoulder.

"Fine," I said, getting off him. "But this is the second person I tried to choke out today. So you better be careful, Dom. I could kill you."

"Then who would hang out with your crazy ass." He chuckled at me.

"Are you serious, Dom?" The mouthy one spoke out.

"What?"

"She just tried to kill him, and you're not going to do anything?" The other one spoke out. It dawned on her that Dom must've held him back while she choked out Mouthy.

"She's a princess, and you're a warrior she got the jump on. So maybe you can try training a little more, so she doesn't kill you next time." Dom just ushered me out of the room, but I still heard the last thing Mouthy said.

"Your princess is a dirty bastard and a slut, asshole." I felt Dom's arm tense up. Oh boy, that's not going to end well.

Dom has always had a hand in all my fights, whether I wanted him to or not. We've been friends for sixteen years, and despite him being an ass, he was always there for me. When you've been called a bastard and ridiculed for it for thirteen of those years, it's hard to find people like Dom. He is the one that taught me to fight. Everything he knows, I know. He figured it would be best for me to learn to fight after some of the warrior kids decided it would be fun to beat me up.

I came back to him, bloodied and beaten. Tears were streaming down my face. What kind of monster would beat up a nine-year-old? Dom comforted me and asked me what had happened. Sure, when dad found out, those kids were severely punished, but nothing like the punishing Dom gave them. For months he had made their lives hell; together, we would play pranks on them or, in training, he would beat them within an inch of their life.

"So I was the first person you wanted to see today? Aren't you missing breakfast with your dad for this?" He gave me a smug little smirk; if anyone else looked at me like that, I would literally beat it out of them.

"You are the fifth person I've seen today." I continued walking to the training floor. "First was an Omega maid that came to remind me that I can eat at the table today. The second was Luna Harou. Who told me to wake up Callisto. So I did just that."

"Was the fourth person your dad? The Alpha?" He asked pulled me aside before I could put a weapon in my hand.

"No, an Omega cook. He slept with my sister last night, and I almost killed him this morning." He just gave me a confused looked.

"So, it's not that big a deal. We all know your sister sleeps around." He wasn't wrong, but no one wanted to admit it. If they did, and the Luna heard a whiff of that kind of rumor, she would kill everyone that has something to do with it.

"She claims they bonded last night. That he is now her mate." His face darkened because both of us knew what it could mean for our pack.

"Wait, does this mean? What is going to happen with her engagement to the Werewolf Prince?" Wars have been fought over much less. This was something even major. A broken oath.

"If it makes you feel any better, you were the first person to tell me Happy Birthday." I tried to break the tension with my usual sarcasm.

"That reminds me, I have a present for you." I just rolled my eyes. I hated my birthday and presents.

"NO. You do not have a present for me." He laughed and picked me up. "DOM!  Put me down!"

"Sorry, princess, no can do. I can't have you run away from me before I give this to you." He plopped me down on a bench nearby and first placed a crown on my head. It was made of sticks and some brush; as soon as he put it on me, he burst into laughter. Next, he handed me a package. It was wrapped in a grey paper with strange embellishments on it; he had even gone so far as to tie a purple bow around it.

"I'm really going to kill you now," I growled at him, but he just smiled.

"I wanted to get you earrings, but I know how much you hate your ears." He shrugged. I carefully unwrapped the gift from him. It was a small dagger. The handle was wrapped in dark leather, and at the end, there was a small jewel. I was blood red. "I know you can change different parts of yourself at will like the little freak you are, but I think it is always good to have some extra protection."

"How do you know I won't stab you with it?" I smiled at him.

"Then who else will wish you happy birthday?" He just laughed; I would never stab him. "Then again, if you kill me now, I won't have to worry about the Grey Moon Pack skinning me alive because your sister violated the treaty."

"I think we would be able to run away together before that could even happen." I knew it was a crazy thing to say. We would never be able to abandon the pack. After all, he was vital to The Warriors now.

"Let's train." He sighed as we walked to the mat.
