10am, outside of the Berman residence. With Ruby for the time being showing signs of normal life, and wounds of hers healing steadily, she and Shay had left her house together, to go and meet Deena. From the nature of the message that they'd been sent, it appeared as though the job wasn't completely done. Meeting up with Deena and Josh, Shay smiled, giving Deena a light hug, before doing a complex handshake with Josh, which they'd made up in their downtime before the showdown at the marketplace.
"Deena, Josh. I'm glad to see you guys are alright. We got your message. And on that note, I've got someone I think you two might want to meet." Nodding her head towards her girlfriend, Ruby gave a meek smile, holding her hand up slightly in a faint wave.
"This, is Ruby Lane. Not the killer you knew from '65. She's changed... Or, she's wanting to. She did some fucked up things which I'm sure we're all aware of. I'm not expecting you two to forgive her anytime soon. And I wouldn't necessarily blame you. But I only ask that you guys give her time to make amends." The shorter girl next to her spoke up, coughing slightly.
"Exactly... I have nothing but regret for everything I've done. Attacking Shay, Simon, you guys, those friends that I... well, you know. I'm ready to make up for what I've done. I only want to help, and do what needs to be done." Ruby explained shakily, under an apprehensive glare from Deena. Josh meanwhile, looked as though he'd just met a celebrity. With that, Deena nodded slowly, as though she was still taking on everything they'd been told.
"Well... She's done a lot of stuff wrong, Shay. But you're obviously well aware of that enough. I'll give her a chance. Josh has his own views, I'm sure. But I'm willing to give her a chance." She admitted, folding her arms, before looking to the trunk of her car.
"Right now though, we've got bigger problems lying ahead." Opening it up, Ruby and Shay were certainly not ready for what they saw. In there lay Sam, bound by her hands and feet, thrashing around violently. She said nothing, but only noises that Shay wasn't even sure she could describe as human. Looking between the two, her eyes eventually fell on Deena in pure shock.
"What the hell happened?" Deena sighed, shaking her head as she looked at the ground.
"Well, me and Sam returned home with Josh, you know, after the supermarket thing? Well, me and her were just hanging out. The phone rang from the kitchen... it was that C. Berman chick. You know the one we tried to get in contact with, to find out how she survived the witch? Well, she called us back. Apparently, there is no escaping her. All we can do is run. How, even though we survived the killers trying to kill us, she still wants us dead. I was just about to hang up, until I turned around to find Sam. I was relieved... at least, for about a second. Then..."
She nodded down to a bandaged up area of her stomach. Based on the length across, Shay could only assume she'd either been slashed or stabbed.
"I managed to subdue her, and we brought her here. It's also why I texted you. We're planning on talking to this Berman chick, to figure out what she knows. I know that you two have been through hell already, helping me with Sam, and I know it's a lot to ask agai-"
"We'll help you two. You don't need to ask." Ruby blurted out. Shay was admittedly caught by surprise, looking at her with slightly raised eyebrows. Ruby nodded to her partner, before she continued.
"You helped Shay get me back. You helped me. When you had absolutely no reason to do so, you helped us both. So, we'll help you. It's the least we can do." She explained, confidently nodding to the two siblings. Deena smiled at this, Josh's face reflecting the same sentiment.
"Thank you... Both of you guys. We owe you two big time. Now then, let's see if anyone's home." With that, the four of them went towards the door, pounding rhythmically for a few seconds before pausing. No immediate answer followed, save for a faint sound, which appeared to be the barking of a dog. Someone was here, evidently. Knocking on the door again this time, they tried a little harder, not wanting to take the door off.
