Amelia Nymphedora Miller stood under the train station's overhang, looking out into the sea of people watching for the telltale signs that her ride was here. Her white and gold leather trunk being used as a ledge for her to stand above the ground at the average height of the crowd, her Barn Owl next to her, the cage reaching as tall as to her waist. Severus remained calm while under the cage cover, having been through this six years before. After scanning the crowd one last time, Amelia concluded that they were late once again. The shorter-than-average girl sat down next to the cage with a deep sigh, her friends having left already after she had promised them she was being picked up soon.
Amelia pulled out a folded piece of paper, which had many creases and the edges worn over years of being tucked into pockets of robes and pants. Unfolding the old paper revealed an image of a woman and young child, who couldn't have been older than 5. Both were moving about, laughing and sharing a smile as they waved back to the girl gazing longingly at the two. Amelia's mother had been showing her around the Ministry, many believing the child to be an exact copy of her mother. Their green-blue eyes changed in the lighting, freckles speckled like stars across their faces and their rounded faces were framed by long silky hair. The one difference between the two was their hair, while her mother's hair was a dirty brown and straight, Amelia had a golden brown . Her mother had explained that this, along with the stubborn genius attitude she had somehow inherited from her nonexistent father. Well nonexistent at that time.
Hearing a commotion broke Amelia out of her inner thoughts. Tucking the picture back into the inside of her jacket, she stood back up on her trunk to see a familiar redhead walking towards her being closely followed by a security guard. Smiling, Amelia hops down to gather Severus, knowing that the guard will handle him a bit too rough for his liking.
"Amelia! I'm so sorry about being late, the flight got delayed from D.C.!" The businesswoman explained, with annoyance in her tone.
Shaking her head in forgiveness with a smile on her face, "I completely understand Pepper, it seems more if a tradition now anyway."
"You are so much easier than Tony, thank you." Pepper sighs, "Well if you're ready let's head back to the airport, I'd like to make it to New York as quickly as possible."
"Of course!" Amelia responds readily, wanting to get out of the overcrowded area and to somewhere she can breathe. The man next to her takes the heavy luggage to the car, as the two follow along weaving through people.
Once they settle in the car and start the drive to the airport, Pepper hands Amelia her phone and is immediately caught back into a conference call. After booting it back up, she's swarmed with notifications from her school friends texting already and social media. Amelia texts her friends back telling them that she's okay and on her way back to the airport, being bombarded with promises of meetups and get-togethers. Amelia checks the social network, most of it being about New York and the Avengers. She plugs some One Direction music in and returns to looking out the window like all bored teenagers.
After getting the news of the attack on New York in Ilvermory, Amelia was one of the only students concerned for the muggles. She understood that the wizarding world didn't get involved with the nonmagical but Amelia hoped that they were helping as much as they could. However, she wasn't concerned for her father, he always pulled off the impossible somehow, surviving the unsustainable.
One thing she was wondering was why Pepper wanted to go to New York before D.C., normally they headed straight back, Amelia tagging along on all her business trips. Maybe it was to visit Tony and give him a scolding for going into the worm whole. All Amelia knew was she didn't want to stay with her father for long, it would be awkward to say the least. Long story short, her father didn't care for her ever since she came into his life when she was 10. Once she turned 11 she went to school of course so they weren't together for long. He then didn't have to know of her magical abilities since he wasn't Amelias primary caretaker, Pepper was. He was told that she was going to a boarding school, while pepper took on the role of parent, even adopting Amelia so she didn't feel so pressured to step into the lime light. The adoption has been in the secret, of course, very few knew, it was just for reassurance of Amelia.
