Forever Silent

Scene 1: Flashback. House. Aberdeen. Sunday Evening

Flashback of John York (34) walking out the door, dressed in suit carrying a briefcase. Dianna York (32) cries. Hayley York (16) lazily walks to her room, a single tear drops down her face.

Scene 2: - In Hayley’s bedroom,

Setting is dark, she is sitting in the corner of her room on her bed. Her room is black and grey and covered with band posters. Sitting with headphones in, music can be heard faintly from her headphones. She is working on school work.

 

*beep beep*

We see her open the message with her thumb (touchscreen phone) the message then reads...

*Sup Wrist cutter? There is a discount on bleach at Tesco. Do us all a favour huh*

Hayley (Whispers)

“Why can’t they leave me alone?”

Hayley stops working and puts her book away and goes into the shower. Scene cuts to the mother, sitting drinking a bottle of beer, looking sadly at a photo of her husband who left her. She picks up the photo frame and stares at it for 10 seconds, getting more enraged

Dianna (Angry)

“Why did you leave us?!”

She throws the photo frame down and it smashes. Scene cuts back to Hayley walking out the bathroom (fully dressed) looking confused at the noise, Hayley walks downstairs and sees her mother drinking a little bottle of vodka. Hayley walks over to the smashed photo, we see the smashed glass and the photo of Hayley, her mother and her father under the smashed glass which represents the break in the family relationship.

Hayley (bitterly)

“You really need to stop drinking mum, you can’t even stand”

Dianna (slurred)

”Don’t use that tone, anyway it’s not like he is coming back so what is the point of having these photo’s anyway” 

Hayley (quietly)

“Well we could have still had a mother daughter relationship if you didn’t drink all the time”

Hayley walks back up to her room lazily and flops onto her bed and picks up her phone, seeing she has 2 new texts.

Hayley reads the messages and a single tear rolls down her face, she throws her phone and wipes away the tear, she gets up and grabs a razor blade, she carefully examines it and goes back to sitting on her bed, she takes the blade to her wrist and drags it across…we see her cut 14 times before she puts the blade down and watching the blood drip down her arm in amazement. After a few moments of watching the blood she stands up and goes to the bathroom and washes the blood off, wincing when the water hits the fresh cuts. She goes back to bed after the blood stops dripping and goes to bed, putting on some Paramore (Last Hope) to sleep to.

Scene 3 – Hayley’s bedroom 7:45am

Hayley is awake and dressed in black skinny jeans and a Sleeping with Sirens t-shirt with black converse and a hoodie to cover up her new scars. She lazily walks down stairs to get breakfast and sees her mother still passed on the couch. Hayley walks over slowly and puts a cover over Dianna, smiling sadly, remembering how close they used to be. Hayley then walks into the kitchen to grab an apple and her bag.
