Taecyeon finally lands in New York when Hyun-Joo led a whole team of guys in dark clothes over to where we are standing. He guesses these are the escorts out of the airport and potentially around New York.
"Taec, this is Daniel, he is going to help you around New York while we are here. If you need anything at all, you can let him know", she said in Korean.
"Hello", Daniel said in Korean and lightly bowed his head. This was pretty customary for Korea, however we are in the Big Apple, we don't need to have honorifics here. It was such a welcomed relief. Daniel is fit, in his mid-twenties probably and Korean-American. The company tries to find people that are Korean to make the actors feel comfortable or whatever, but they must have forgotten that he grew up here.
"Hey man, how's it going?" Taecyeon said in English and stretched out his hand for a shake. Daniel's face lit up with excitement as he stretched out his hand to return the handshake. Daniel's face looked kind which is a good quality for any Korean mother trying to pawn off their daughter. Taecyeon notices that Daniel's black polo shirt is fitted to the point where you can tell he worked out regularly. He might have been a marine before private security, you can tell that he definitely took the time to work out and care for his hygiene. I bet he knows where all the hot spots are in New York, most people his age do. This was knowledge Taecyeon plans to exploit later as he gets Daniel just drunk enough to allow Taec out of the hotel.
The team was bustling around looking for the extra bags towards the exit of the airport. That's when Taecyeon saw the long brown hair of a woman walking towards the exit of the airport toting a hard-shell roller bag and a Louis Vuitton bag. He had to do a double take.
No way that was her.
Teac reached into his pocket quickly to look for something he can leverage. Literally anything. A pack of gum.
"Daniel, quick, that woman walking dropped this," he said quickly and handed Daniel the gum. Daniel shuffled over to her and Taec rehearsed the assumed inaudible conversation.
Miss, I think you dropped this gum.
Oh my! That doesn't look like mine.
My friend over there told me that you might have dropped it.
Then she would look over.
That is the love of my life, Ok Taecyeon, I must go to him.
Then she would walk over here, and kiss him deeply.
I haven't seen you in two years! I have missed you. Please marry me and have my babies.
Then they would kiss and live happily ever after.
Images of what could be are spinning around Taec's imaginations as she turned around, almost in slow motion.
Rachel. She is in New York.
Taec knows he has to move fast. They have kept missing each other since high school. Missing opportunities to be together. Missing the willingness to act on the spark that they both knew they felt. It was hard to think as Daniel came back with the pack of gum.
"She said it wasn't hers," Daniel said.
"Weird...", he responded, knowing that he is going to finally seize this opportunity.
Taec can't stop looking at her now. Rachel is standing to the side as the crew and staff for the movie are plowing through crowds of people with Taec and two other actors at the center of their huddle.
Look over to me, he thought, look just once, please.
Her face was even prettier than the last time they crossed paths a couple years ago at Mr. Carbonne's funeral, if that was even possible. Her beautiful amber eyes finally locked with Taec's and she stared at him for a second or two. That was all he needed. One second to convey the feelings that he has known for 17 years. He just needed one second for her to lock eyes, so that Rachel can feel that Taec thinks she is the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen. He has always thought that.
