After school, Sapnap and I walk to Philza's cafe and he tells me all about himself. How he lives really close to Dream and how they grew up together and are practically brothers, things they used to do when they were younger, about their animals. By the time we arrived, I felt like I had already met this 'Dream' character.
I handed my CV over to the owner, Phil. He's really lovely - very witty and humorous. He invites me to have a quick interview in the break room and he decides to hire me on the spot!
"You sound like a great kid, George, and I would love to welcome you to Philza's family."
"Thank you so much for this opportunity!" I say with a smile. "I won't let you down."
He smiles at me warmly. In many ways, Phil reminds me of my father not too long ago. Full of life and radiating with a caring aura. "Any chance you can start tomorrow?" he asks.
"Tomorrow would be perfect." This day had really gone better than I expected it to. 'For now.' a tiny voice in the back of my mind says. 'There's still time.'
We shake hands and part ways. I walk back into the main part of the store and notice Sapnap on his phone. The smell of coffee and pastries makes my stomach rumble. Should have eaten lunch.
"Hey Sapnap!" I say enthusiastically.
"Well, you are looking awfully chipper! Did ya get the job?" he asks, putting his phone away.
"Yep! I start tomorrow!"
"That's awesome dude! Congrats!" he says warmly.
"Hey, Dream just arrived back in town and is coming to the cafe to meet us. Wanna stay and have a coffee?"
"Of course! I don't have to be back for a while." I reply, grateful to get the opportunity to sit down and eat something.

Dream POV
I get off the phone and slump back into my chair. There have been an increased amount of rogue attacks lately, so I had to have a big meeting with all the neighbouring alphas. I was exhausted, especially because I am yet to find my mate: someone who can help me navigate this craziness. I sigh. Fortunately Sapnap, my beta, seems to have had a good day. Today my wolf was especially restless, for unknown reasons, and I figured that maybe getting out will do me good. I hop off my chair and throw my jacket over my shoulders, running my hand through my messy hair on the way out. I grab the keys for my truck and hop in. The closer I get to Philza's, the more restless my wolf becomes.
I mutter a string of curse words as I park outside the cafe - the dude who runs it, Phil, is a great guy. He's one of our close family friends from the pack and it would be nice to get the opportunity to talk to him.
As I push open the door, I catch a whiff of the most amazing scent - I look over quickly, and a small gasp escapes my lips. I catch sight of the most adorable boy ever, his dark brown hair falling over his gorgeous brown eyes, glowing red cheeks complimented by a perfect smile. He catches me staring and without warning our eyes meet. Before I can think about it, the word I have been looking forward to speaking most of my life slips out:
"Mate."
The entire cafe goes silent. His eyes dart down as he blushes, looking confused, but I can't be bothered to mind. Everything else disappears when I see him, and I find myself taking a few long strides towards him, engulfing him in a hug. Sparks fly over my body and I feel my chest grow warm. He tenses at first and then relaxes into the hug, but before long we are interrupted. I quickly pull away, not realising how strange that was of me. A blush coats the boy's face and my wolf practically purrs at the sight.
"Uh, as I was saying, George, this is Dream, and Dream this is George" Sapnap says hesitantly.
"George." I repeat quietly, his name feeling like silk rolling off my tongue.
"Um, hi," he says, still blushing from our previous encounter, barely making eye contact.
"Why has everyone gone silent?" he whispers to Sapnap.
I angrily glance around the cafe and everyone goes back to normal. Sapnap looks overjoyed and happy that I have finally found my mate. Most werewolves find their mate at 16, and I'm in senior year and had almost given up hope. We all sit in an awkward silence until Sapnap decides to say something
"Hey, uh, George, I think your drinks are ready, can you grab them?"
"Uh, sure yeah." he walks away, still looking confused, when he's out of hearing range, Sapnap throws himself at me and practically screams in my ear:
"DUDE, CONGRATS I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!"
