*Zuko POV*

As I lay awake, staring at the ceiling in the dark, I couldn't help but feeling angry at Aang. Why am I feeling this way? Is it because of Mai? As soon as that thought entered my mind, my brain replayed my break-up with Mai. We were at the Jasmine Dragon, my uncle's tea shop, when she said- "Zuko, can we talk about something?"
"Sure... Hey, Mai are you okay? You never talked in that tone before."
"Zuko, do you even love me anymore?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you've... been distant these days."
"It's not that! I- I've been super busy being Fire-Lord. I have to manage our nation from going to another 100 year war!"
"Well, if you're so busy, then maybe we're not meant for each other!"
" Are you breaking up with me?! After we been through?! FINE. LEAVE."
"Zuko, listen-"
"LEAVE!"
And with a a surge of anger, I let out a wave of fire. I felt so angry, it's as if I became the fire. Without realizing, I heard a scream. A painful scream. I realized but it was too late. "MAI! Oh no! Mai!" I yelled. I never felt such a surge of panic. I found a red, bruised, burnt right arm that belonged to my ex, Mai. "Mai, I am so, so sorry. I- I just got so mad I-" "Save it, Zuko. We're over. I'm sorry." She left without saying another word. "I'm sorry, too." I said quietly. I closed my eyes, and tears were streaming down my cheeks, I let out a sob. Uncle Iroh walked into the room, asking what happened. Without saying anything, I cried and hugged him. I buried my head into his chest, crying. "You know," Uncle said, "Love is like fire. It spreads, consuming everyone. But soon after, it burns. It burns through your heart, leaving you broken to pieces." I cried. I hope I don't have to go through that ever again.
