I lay on my bed in the small room I share with my little brother Pablo he is 9 years old. Me and my family have just moved here from Spain. We knew we were going to move so we learned to speak English before the move. "Miguel?" calls my mother.
"Yes,Momma" I call back. "Dinner!" I get up and walk out of my room and into the kitchen. I sit down at the table with the rest of my family as my mother puts the food on the table then sits down. We say a prayer and then dig in to the food.
My family does not have much money because we are immigrants and my Papa is the only one that works. I used to have a job as a servant for a rich family but they fired me because they thought there daughter was talking to me to much and they didn't want her to talk to a servant boy. Now I work in the garden to grow food for us to eat. My hands are always dirty from work.
It a what they call summer break right now btu when school starts back up I will not be going. I was not educated back in Spain so it is to late for me to start, but Pablo will be going because he is young enough.
I wish I still had that job and not just because it helped my family but because the red haired girl was nice to me and didn't treat me like a no good servant boy.
I don't like being a servant. I want to be an author but my family doesn't believe in me. I have been wondering if I should run away. I would come back after I made money of corse. But should I?
