The Only Two

I woke up at 6:14am. I got up to brush my teeth and hair, then changed into some sweat pants and a black crop top. I decided I was going to run since I had nothing better to do. As I walked out the front door I jogged around the neighborhood till about 7:46am. I stopped to the feeling of a sharp pain run through out my body, I felt dizzy, and like I was going to puke. I fell to the ground and blacked out.

I woke up to the sound of a boy who was shaking me to wake up. "Oh my gosh, are you okay?". My eyes still blurry, but I knew who it was. It was that boy, that boy I saw running across to road. My eyes went big as he bent down closer to pick me up. He picked me up softly off the hard ground, and carried me like a baby. I was so weak I couldn't say or do anything. He walked me over to a  baseball field and walked to the dug out. He placed me gently on the bench as all of he's friends came surrounding me. "Hey, give her some space!" The boy screamed. One of the boys asked "Benny what happened, where did you find her" he then said "I found her near the field so I carried her here." He answered.

A few minutes past and then I finally had the strength to move. I sat up as the boys all backed up with there mouths wide open. "Oh my god!" One of the boys said "someone help her!" Another one said. "What?" I asked. The boy who helped me then said "nothing is wrong they are just over reacting because they have never been up to a girl this close." He rolled his eyes and laughed. "Guys stop it I think we are scaring her." One of the boys said. "I am fine" I laughed. "Can I get you something, like water?" The boy asked. "That would be nice" I replied.

As the boy handed me some water he sat down next to me and said "I'm Benny Rodriguez, and this is my team." As he introduced me to everyone, I started to feel better. After he introduced them to me I then said "I am Madelyn, but you can call me mads." I smiled. "That's a pretty name" Benny smiled. "Thanks" I said. One of the younger boys asked "do you play baseball?" Then before I could say anything Ham said "no, she's a girl, girls can't play because they are girls, it's a boys sport!" Benny looked at me waiting for me to say something, so I said "yes, I do play baseball". Ham looked at me and said "no you can't" I then said "oh really, I didn't know that you knew, even though you just met me" I smiled. Ham said "fine if you can hit a home run, we will consider you playing with us." I then said "I don't care if I play with you are not, I just want to prove you wrong" I laughed.

Benny handed me the bat as I got up then he said "you probably shouldn't do it because you just passed out not to long ago" he frowned. I grabbed the bat walking up to the batters box, not saying anything. As all the boys went to their positions on the field, ham grinned at me and said "try to hit the ball I dare you, you will miss every time" as he said  things like "you can't hit it" the whole time I was up there the first pitch was pitched I swung the bad with frustration, then I missed. Ham started laughing "that's one, about to be two!" He screamed. As he threw the ball back he looked at me and said "now this one is going to be his heater, have fun trying." He laughed "can you shut up and let me hit?" I screamed. As the second pitch was coming it's way across the plate I swung the bat as hard as I could.

CRACK!

The ball flew over the fence. As I ran the bases I looked at all their faces as I ran. All of their faces wear the same, their mouth hanging wide open and their eyes all on me as I ran. As I touched home plate I picked up the bat and said "I can do it again if you want?" I smiled. Ham then said "I knew you could the whole time." He tried to play it off. Benny and all of the other boys ran up to me. "Mads that was the best hit I have ever seen a girl hit." Squints said. "Uh, thanks I guess" I smiled. Benny said "that was a great hit Madelyn!" And then before I could say anything, he picked me up and put me on his shoulders as they all called out "Madelyn, Madelyn...." Over and over again. When Benny put me down I turned to face him, and then his cheeks turned red, and so did mine.

After playing some more we all walked home as the group got smaller walking home me and Benny started to talk more. When we reached his house, we didn't stop we just kept walking and talking till we got to my house. "Well, I guess this is goodbye" Benny frowned. "Yeah I guess so, well maybe the next time we see each other we can carry this conversation, bye" I smiled as we walked different directions.

I walked inside to see my mom cleaning the dishes. "You missed dinner, lunch, and breakfast. You haven't ate all day" my mom said with a worried face. She hugged me and said "I don't want you to not eat like you did last year, I almost lost you." She said sadly "is it because of us moving? Because I am sorry I knew this would happen." She said with tears in her eyes. "Mom, no I have ate I went out with Phillips and we hung out all day." I said faking a smile. "Oh okay, well I will leave you alone so you can get ready for bed, goodnight." She said kissing my forehead. "Goodnight mom love you" I said "love you too" she said with a smile.

Lying to my mom was the worst, but I had to about this stuff, I didn't want her to worry that much about me because she has a lot of stuff to do, and I'm old enough to be taking care of myself I mean I'm 14 my mom shouldn't have to worry about me, right? I don't know I just don't want her to worry.

As I laid in bed thinking about what I had just done. Benny popped into my head, I started to think about the long conversation we had walking home. And how he put me on his shoulders, and how he looked at me when he put me down. Wait, was I falling in love with him too! What about Phillips? I asked myself I can't love both of them, or can I?
