Stevie was no longer replying to Lindsey's texts. When he went to see her, he didn't imagine them ending up in bed, but once he knew, she was into it as much as he was, he wasn't about to stop. And then she told him to leave, so he did. She needed time, he was going to leave her alone. He started thinking about his feelings for her. What if he was simply grateful and a little fond of her? Two young, attractive people under the same roof - something was bound to happen between them. But at the same time, he refused to believe that. She felt it, too, or so she said.

Deciding that he had to stop obsessing over his nonexistent relationship with Stevie, Lindsey chose to focus on himself. He had plenty of reminders at his home of who he used to be. Once he spoke to his brother and eventually his parents, he recalled some moments from his childhood and teenage years, but that wasn't enough. He had another source of information, which he hesitated to turn to. Not for long, though.

"This is from when we went to Las Vegas." Rebecca swiped through a couple of pictures on her phone. "But you hated it, it didn't turn out they way you thought it was going to be. You said, they're all set out to steal every last penny in broad daylight."

"I do kinda look excited to be there." Lindsey half smiled, sipping from his glass of red wine. Rebecca told him that he used to hate it, well, he didn't anymore, probably thanks to Stevie.

"Uh, well... we had just left our hotel room and..." She trailed off, but he caught on quickly. "This is from our most recent visit at your parents'." She didn't dwell. "You were fighting your father about who gets to be at the grill."

"Who won?" Lindsey didn't realize that his arm was resting along the back of the couch, almost around Rebecca's shoulders.

"Your father, but I think, you let him win." She smiled, going through her gallery. When he grew quiet, she turned to face him. "What?"

"Nothing." He said, taking a moment to look at her.

Rebecca was beautiful, no question. She had dark brown hair, her eyes were a few shades lighter. Her lips were full (and ready to be kissed). He wasn't going to stare directly, but he lowered his eyes over her breasts, then looked back up again. They seemed larger compared to Stevie's, but he didn't felt the need to touch them. Her hips didn't make a beautiful round shape of a heart, when she sat, which Stevie's did, it made him think that Rebecca likely had cosmetic surgery to alter something she didn't like.

Before Lindsey understood what was happening, Rebecca's lips were pressed to his firmly. What the hell, he thought, much like Stevie did, hoping to deny it to herself, to deny that she felt something for him. Apparently, he'd been kissing this woman for nearly two years, she told him, but it... it just didn't feel right. He did his best to block every thought of Stevie and pulled Rebecca into his lap. She felt different, she didn't seem to fit him as well as Stevie did.

"Stop thinking." She said after she broke them apart to breathe.

Lindsey didn't respond just kissed her back as her hips rotated, grinding against him, but... You're still a man, goddamnit - nothing.

The final mood killer was the doorbell. Lindsey's heart began to race, but he was an idiot to hope. Although, given what had just been going on, it'd be a relief if it wasn't-

"Stevie."

"Hey." She looked shy, tucking a strand of her behind her air. "I was just... driving around and-" She took in his appearance, his unbuttoned shirt and tussled hair, remnants of lipstick on his lips... Her eyes glazed over with tears and she chewed on her bottom lip. "It's a bad time, I see. I'm sorry."

"No, Stevie, wait!" He rushed to grab on to her.

"Linds? Is everything-"

"Fuck!" He didn't bother to keep it inside. "Stevie, please, listen to me!"

"You're not alone, you can't lie your way out of this." The pain in her eyes hurt him and he cursed himself for attempting to rekindle something that was no longer there. "I'm not gonna ask you to wait around for me anymore. I-"

"Hear me out, I'm begging you." He was a little misty eyed too, when he held onto her.

Lindsey didn't get to say anything else, when Rebecca rushed past the two of them, most likely in tears as well. Once he lost his focus, Stevie managed to free herself and leave him, too.
