The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step- Lao Tzu

It was cold, very cold... though Carina knew she should have gotten used to the feeling of emptiness by now. Star gazing outside was one of the best things to do at the moment, even though she wasn't outside she still did it through her bedroom window. sighing out another realse of fresh air, she snuggled more into her warm woolen sweater.
it was nice, to be able to smell the fresh green grass after a terrible winter wonderland. To be able to feel the moist air and smell the rain, looking at the cloudy yet slightly parted clouds. Here in Boston, MA, it wasn't a surprise to be covered in snow around this time.
New years had just passed and Carina was offically eighteen years old just a few days ago.
just remembering how the "best birthday ever," went, almost drove her into tears. Living all the way out here with her mother, Suzanne until her official day of being an adult -which already happened as she mentioned a while back- to go back and live with her father.
To say she was nerveous was an understatement. She had seen her father awhile back, but that was when she was ten years old. After that it was like her dad went MIA, completely gone. Although Carina has already overheard a few calls on the other line of her family house phone from her mother speaking to him, yet only to realize it was buisness... at least she thought it was.
Her parents would speak in Discreet in case they knew someone -like her- were to be listening in on their conversations.
She parents weren't divorced, but didn't really commute as if they were married but did it as though they were mere aquaintences. it only sadend Carina's facade of acting as if she had the most happiest and fortunate life in town.
The wind began to rustle through her hair causing her sight of the beautiful sky to be blurred.
She roughly pushed her strawberry blonde hair out of her face. She just couldn't sleep.
Not after being told that she was supposed to move in with her dad by tomorrow evening.
Not that she had much friends to begin with, but she still had her A.W.K.S -Award Winning Killer Shotgun- friends. The name sucked but they came up with it in grade 3 and they chose to stick with it.
She sighed, for the millionth time today.
It was going to be one hell of a day tomorrow morning.
*** Mr and Mrs Mafia***
Present Tense
"Ms. Castello," a shaky voice awakened Carina from her endless train of thoughts. As she glanced at the door, her neck twisted in an uncomfortable manner.
The door creaked open slightly as Tommy, Carina's new recruit for gate watch, popped half his body in. She closed her eyes for a brief second before reopening them to look at Tommy. Her head suddendly tilting sideways for emphasis.
"Tommy, what did i tell you yesterday about wavering?" Her voice boomed in the spacious office Carina had all to herself.
Hearing only silence, Carina began tapping her fingernails to show that her patience was presently hanging by a thread for Tommy.
"Uh... you sa- erm," He cut himself off, clearing his throat. "You said, to always wear a voice of authority, as a representative of a Castello, we must do our best to not let our emotions show." He said in a more confident voice.
