note

Fair warning, for those of you who've read the original Playin' Hard posted in 2013, please be aware that of course I've made changes and cuts. The original version spanned over 119,000 words. I then edited and cut it down to 113k and reposted it on Wattpad, resulting in the occasional comment about certain scenes / dialogue missing. This new version has also faced significant cuts, and is now 100k (soon to be shorter as Wattpad wants about 80-90k). I was twenty when I originally thought up and started this story, and now at thirty, some thoughts or feelings have changed and I made edits I felt made the story move more smoothly or wasn't as problematic.

This is still the same story you all have rocked with since your original read, whatever year that was, but redundancy is just now gone. I will make note of a major edit I felt was very necessary and less dramatic for the story as a whole, and I hope when you come across it you appreciate it. I hope you still love Cree & DeAndre, especially in their final story. Overall, my aim was to make the story stay true to its original nature and I hope that's how it reads. It's a real and true YA love story featuring two of my favorite Black characters.

The original Wattpad version WILL be reposted, as, if I'm remembering correctly, Wattpad intends to place it in their Paid program.

Publishing Playin' Hard definitely means I'll officially be writing Fallin' Hard as an anticipated sequel. That'll be a priority as I finish edits and slip back into the Moorehead High world. I can only hope both books give you guys who've been patient justice.

about

If there's one thing Cree Jacobs can't stand about Moorehead High, it's definitely the Ballers Club—an exclusive clique of boys who dominate on the school's sports teams and in the dreams of their peers. The boys are arrogant, flashy, and just way too overrated for Cree's taste.

Don't tell that to DeAndre Parker, the unofficial leader of the It group. Laidback, good-looking, a prodigy on the court and the son of a retired NBA champion, DeAndre knows his potential and that almost everyone at Moorehead would do anything to get next to him—except for Cree Jacobs.

Typically, these two would never cross paths or acknowledge each other, that is until one heated debate in class with Cree sets DeAndre off, igniting a need within him to prove a point: no one can resist the Club. Determined to get Cree under his spell, DeAndre begins a task even he may not be able to complete as the two strike a friendship that sparks into something more.
