"And if they get me take this spike to my heart.." The deep voice sang flawlessly on the radio. I looked straight ahead as I drove down the empty highway. The bass guitar beat loudly in the speakers of my camaro. I put my foot harder onto the gas and sped ahead. The big trees zoomed past. My green eyes focused ahead. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest like the drums playing on my stereo. I drove on until I reached the noble appearing house that my father owns. I park and get out and walk up the stairs quietly. At the top of the stairs I see my Father and another man in the living room through the glass full panel windows.

My father quickly come across the open room to the door and greets me. His curly black hair tied back as usual, his blue eyes shimmered, and as usual his black clothing was spotless. "Welcome home Caleb," he said smiling. I looked up at the man my eyes skeptically stared up at him and the stranger beside him. "Who is he?" I asked almost appalled at my rudeness. My father frowns at me but the man just smiles."I'm Eli, Mic has told me a lot about you."Eli? I don't remember Father saying anything about... Eli? Why is he looking at my Father like that? My bitter thoughts consumed me for an instant. He is trying to be polite moron now greet him. I mentally slapped myself and forced a smile and a nod. We walked back into the fire lit room and up the hall to the stairs. "Your room as at the end of the hall on the left." Father said gently. I walked upstairs silently as ever.

Dinner that night was.... Awkward... To say the very least. Since my father and "Eli" are vampires they of course had red meat with blood on the side... However My father insisted upon drinking wine. Typical. I think more then talk at supper despite their attempts to draw out how I have been and what I have been doing the last few years. Occasionally I would speak and give brief sentences about my life so far. "How is Zelda?" Father asked me. I froze my green eyes darting around the room as if searching for a way out of the inquiry about my sister. Currently she was in Rome, or at least that's where she was last I spoke to her.

My brain consumed itself in thoughts of my beautiful sister, and then my mother. I knew I couldn't avoid the question any longer so I opened my mouth to speak, and almost providentially, a long loud howl sounded from the woods. I looked out through the window. That wasn't the howl of a local dog, that was the howl of a shapeshifter. Father and Eli seemed unalarmed. "Pay no mind that's just the evening patrol." Eli said calmly.

"...Right.... I think I'm going to go to bed." My father looked at me as if this was a sudden and unexpected decision and was obviously going to argue, but Eli put his hand on top on his. "You're surely tired after traveling all day. I hope we can get to know each other tomorrow?" I frowned as I stood up. "Maybe..." I mumbled under my breath as I headed up the stairs and down the hall. The white carpet felt soft on the bottom of my feet. I looked at the walls, plain enough with silver tracings of flowers of some sort. Pictures, mostly of scenery was hung along the walls. At the end of the hall was a window, and through it, even with the dark violet curtains drawn over it, I could see the full moon peering in lighting the hall up, despite the curtains. In front of the window was a dresser, on it several pictures stood. As I walked nearer, I found that they were all of me and my sister and Dad. We're together.... and... we look...almost happy... that was so long ago. There I am as a boy. My thoughts were almost bitter and I picked up the one of me and my sister when we were tiny children. Even though it was black and white it was obvious my eyes were bright green like my mother, and Zelda's...sweet Zelda's eyes were blue like Father's. I set it down and turned away and went into my room.

I stopped in the entrance of my room and looked around. The paint was dark blue, with the same white carpeting. I glanced out the white framed window idly. My bags had been placed neatly beside the dark wood door of my closet. I walked over and opened the closet and tossed them in and then quickly undressed. I then went over to my bed and pulled the lighter blue sheets down and laid under them. I laid there thinking a while. A lock of my brown hair fell into my eyes. I pushed it away absently.  I begun to think about my life and begun to zone out. I found myself in the garden where it had begun... No not my life, life. My immortal life.
