Quite The Charmer

I found myself laying in bed, a bit later then usual about 3 days after swimming with Khaz. I was just laying there grinning like an idiot. The past few days I'd stayed out of the house as much as possible. I don't know if I was really enjoying the outdoors or if I wanted to avoid my dad and Eli. Suddenly I heard rocks pounding on my bedroom window. I got up lazily and dragged my feet to the window. I looked down, and saw Juniper standing there in the backyard. Annoyance in her green eyes as she stared up at me. "Gimmie a sec!" I hollered down and turned back to my room and located some decent clothes. I jogged down the stairs and out into the daylight. Juniper had her hair tied back and was, as usual, wearing a tank top with shorts, and was barefoot. "Come on Spooky. You've been sleeping the day away. Lets go swimming!" She sounded excited. I thought about it a millisecond then nodded agreement and we both begun to jog down to the shore down the hill from my dad's house. We both plunged eagerly into the cold water and begun to swim. I started on task of surveying the river bed. I dove down deeper and picked up something shiny and examined it before continuing on.

We swam for an hour and then headed for the cafe, soaking wet. The shiny object I had discovered was a small pendant with a raven on it. I put it in my shorts pocket before heading to the cafe. When we walked in, to no surprise several other of the shifters were there sitting in their usual booth. This time, Vega, the waitress was sitting with them. She must not be working today, I observed as me and Juniper approached them. Juniper sat down next to a boy I gathered to be named Arcturus. He was on the smaller side, not at all big or muscular like the other boys. I think he was Vega's little brother. I stood there awkwardly and Khaz looked up, happy to see me. Juniper scooted down and I sat next to her, still feeling awkward. Another waitress walked over and took our orders. I simply got a coke and sat back in my seat. The other teenagers talked and I zoned out. A few minutes later Juniper was jabbing me in the ribs and I took a sip of my coke letting myself slowly back to reality. I stared at the yellow curtains for a brief moment then over at Khaz who begun to blush. I heard a car horn honk as I was finishing my cold soda. We all looked out and sure enough there was my dad's blue Audi r8. He waved at me and I bit my lip standing up and begun to walk out. "Bye Caleb!" I looked over my shoulder and Khaz was biting his lip still blushing. I waved back smiling and walked out to my dad's car and got in the passenger seat.

He begun to drive and glanced over at me. "Why the long face kiddo?" I frowned. "Where are you taking me?" I asked hotly. "I thought maybe we could spend a little father-son time." I rolled my eyes. Riiiiiiiight...... I looked back out the window of the car my green eyes scanning everything. I noticed a butterfly landing on a flower. I don't know why it caught my eye, but those brief seconds of staring at it seemed to stand still. The blue striped butterfly fluttered its wings and was gone just as swiftly as we drove past. I stared straight ahead. We drove in silence for about a half hour and I sighed. "Where are you taking me?" I repeated the question once more. My dad chuckled. "I figured we could spend a couple days in Seattle. Just you and me pal," he smiled over at me and a looked away. "What about your boyfriend?" I asked venomously. "Eli suggested it, actually,"Mic glared at me. The rest of the drive was mostly quiet... Except for his radio blasting. I guess I dozed off, when I woke up it was dark out and we were in Seattle. I yawned and sat up rubbing my neck sorely. "Well good morning." Mic said monotonously. I rolled my window down and breathed in the wet Seattle air. The lights hurt my eyes at first but they soon adjusted to it. Dad parked at a fancy hotel and we got out and he went to go check in. I leaned against the Audi looking around curiosity building in me. Once checked in Dad led me to our room then I stopped. "Wait, I don't have any stuff!"He chuckled and tossed a bag onto my bed. "I packed for you kid." he laughed a little at me and stretched.

I frowned at him again and looked around the room. It wasn't big but it wasn't tiny. I sat on the edge of my bed and sighed. I could tell he was trying to make the best out of this situation, and was trying to help me adjust to everything. I frowned half ashamed of myself. I looked in the mirror. I nearly fell off the bed. I could have sworn for a moment, that instead of myself, I saw Piers. My mentor. Just as soon as I thought I saw him he was gone. I stood up and walked to the large mirror and looked into my own eyes curiously. Mic looked at me and walked over and stood next to me, admiring himself in the mirror. "Is there something else Caleb?" He asked not looking down at me. I shook my head to clear it, he must have taken this as my response and walked away again. "Why don't we just go have some fun?" He suggested with a sigh. He looked tired. I cocked my head to the side then nodded. "Ya, okay, lets go," I mumbled.
