"Dad won't be home until later, what do you want to eat?" My brother Ethan asked, walking into my room on short notice.
"I don't know, have what you want I'm gonna spend the night at Deena's with Sam, Kate and Simon" I replied.
"Who's Simon you're boyfriend?" Ethan teased.
"Fuck off" I said flipping him off and pushing him out of my room.
He laughed and left, I have had a crush on Simon for a little while now, it's not my fault he's funny and generally nice to me... and hot, but that's besides the point. Then again, my other friends aren't so bad looking too but Sam and Deena are off limits since they got back together and I feel like Kate has a little something for Deena's brother josh. Good kid he is, a little odd but aren't we all?

I walked up to Deena's house and knocked on her door, "knock knock!?" I called, "anyone home?"
"You made it!" Deena exclaimed hugging me, Kate and Sam came up behind her and joined the hug.
We parted and entered the living room, Deena's house wasn't very big but it was still welcoming, besides the empty bottles of beer were strewn across the living room table and floor with a few additional empty pizza boxes.
"Yo yo" Simon said walking out of the bathroom scratching his chest and stretching the other arm. I laughed at his stupidity and gave him a hug. Kate and Deena gave me a small smile and winked, I rolled my eyes and helped myself to a can of Coke and took my usual spot on the couch.

"Hey kiddo I'm home."
"Hey Dad, how was work?" I asked.
"Good good, where's your sister" he asked poking his head through my doorway, "she's not in her room?"
"Oh yeah, she's spending the night at Deena's."
"Just Deena?"
"No, Sam, Kate and her boyfriend are there too" I answered not taking my eyes off this magazine I found.
"Alri- wait!? Boyfriend? What boyfriend?"
I chuckled, "that Simon kid."
"Oh, well in that case that's fine, good kid that one."
"Mm."
"Alright good night. Oh also I might be called in to the station during the night so if you hear any noise it'll be me" Dad said turning to leave.
"Okay."

"Stars are out, anyone wanna come star gazing with me?" Sam asked, we all agreed and headed outside.
"What's the plan for tomorrow?" Simon asked laying down on the ground with his hands behind his head supporting it.
"Well I did want to go shopping for a few things" Kate said.
"Of course you do" I said lying down next to Simon.
"I'm down for it, what about tomorrow night?" Deena suggested, we all agreed and silence followed, staring at the stars.
I noticed Simon had inched his way closer, I caught myself before a smile spread over my face. He suddenly reached over and pulled me into his arms, we laughed and he pushed me down against to ground so he was on top of me, arms at either side of my head.
I felt my face grow warm, "get off me you asshole."
He laughed and bent his arms so our faces were closer together, I could feel the others watching intently.
"Em, I wanna ask you something..." he said.
"Er yeah, what is it?" I felt like I was going to explode of nerves at any second, I didn't know what he was gonna say but the thought of whatever he had planed gave me major butterflies.
"Um well, I've kind of had a fat crush on you for months now and I don't know if you feel the same way cause you women are confusing as hell but fuck it, better now than never right?" He said with a nervous giggle, I was stunned for a while and just stared into his ocean eyes.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but is Simon Kalivoda asking me out?" I said grinning.
"Hmm? I don't know am I?" He said sarcastically.
"I don't know you tell me."
"Well, in that case yes, yes I am asking you to be my girlfriend" Simon said sitting up but still on top of me.
"Yes! Of course I will!" I said reaching my arms out to pull him in, he stopped mid way and kissed me on the lips while the others cheered for us.
Tonight past pretty quick and before you could say "she reaches from beyond the grave to make good men her wicked slaves" I was back at home.

"Why do you look so happy, it's creeping me out" Ethan said with a disgusted look.
"You do seem awfully happy today" Dad said.
"Am I not allowed to be happy now is that it?" I said.
"No, no that's not what I mean, just unusual."
"Right, anyways, Simon asked me out last night" I said smiling, I've never talked about relationships with dad, he's always been to busy being "sheriff Goode" and Ethan is no help what so ever.
"That's great hunny!"
"Ew."
"Shut up Ethan, just because the only person you've ever dated was that one chick in year one doesn't mean you can take it out on me" I snapped, his reaction made me smile.
"Also we're gonna go to the mall tonight if that's alright" I told Dad, heading to the kitchen to find something for breakfast.
"Tonight..?"
"Yes?"
"Oh um, okay, but be careful won't you?" He warned walking in behind me and opened the pantry.
"Yeah, don't get too close to anyone you might be shady-side's next victim! Or hell maybe even the next one to snap!" Ethan called from the hallway, I scoffed and Dad went off at him. He's been working on those cases for ages now. He doesn't seem too stressed about them though, most have been claimed to be freak incidents. None of it sits quite right with me but there's nothing I can do to help so I try not to dwell on it for long.
