I slid over to Em's side and began CPR, one..., two..., three, I paused and watched for a reaction. It wasn't working so I tried covering her wounds but there was too many for me to cover, tears built up in my eyes making things hard to see. I.lifted her up onto my lap where I cradled her body, I checked her pulse near her neck.
"Please no, I love you Em don't do this to us!" Simon cried.
"I can't feel her pulse" I said, silence filled the mall and I pulled her up closer to my chest. My only daughter was gone.
"She saved me.." Deena said looking at her, tears rolled down her face and Sam hugged her. I looked up at her friends they were all either trying not to cry or crying.
"What now Sir?" Josh sniffed.
"I-I'm not sure" I replied I couldn't think straight so I called Ethan and told him to come immediately. A little under five minutes he arrived, he looked scared, unsure of what was happening.

I pulled the doors open to Shadyside mall and quickly spotted the group crouched down, circled around two figures. My heart sank at the sight, I noticed the group was gathered around a bigger person, figured they were dad and a smaller familiar figure in his lap. I sped up my pace and jogged over to them.Dad had Em cradled in his arms, she'd lost a lot of blood and looked pale. Her friends were crying too, triggering my emotions. I dropped to their side and held her hand letting tears fall.
"I'm sorry kid, she's lost too much blood there's nothing we can do" dad said.
"What happened?" I sobbed. No one said anything but they pointed to another corpse lying on the ground, he was wearing a skeleton costume and had a bullet wound through his head. I examined the mans face only to notice it was my friend Ryan.
"No... I Fucking jinxed it!"
"What?"
"Remember, I told her not to get too close to anyone or she'll be Shadyside's next victim! And it happened, dad, it's all my fault."
"No Ethan don't say that" Dad pulled me in to a hug and I cried into his shoulder. After a little while he had arranged for someone to come pick her body up since we couldn't take her with us. We didn't talk on the way home, I just sat quietly in the back crying silently.

The priest said a closing prayer and we went our separate ways, all the people and the families we had invited to Em's funeral came up to dad and I and wished us the best. Eventually we left for the grave yard where she'd be buried, only the people closest to us came along including her friends who were huddled together next to us."When we get home I need to show you something" Dad said guiding me back to the car, I don't know what he could want to show me at this point but I nodded my head and got into the car.
"This way" he pushed on a section of the wall near the kitchen. It opened into a passage way, like an entrance into a cave. I looked up at him to see he was already looking at him with a sorrowful look and signalled for me to follow.
He led me down into an area where the tunnel ended it was full of shelves with odd things including candles, books, little jars that were placed on each shelf, some full of liquid while others contained dried herb looking things. Some of the shelves just contained books while others had different skulls and animal skins later out.
"What is this place?" I asked.
"Just help me move this shelf out of the way" dad said, I walked over and gripped the shelf. We heaved it left and behind it was another hidden area. This one was empty, with big rocks all about the same size and height place around the room. An engraving in the floor caught my eye, I peered down to see a symbol of some sort. Not too far away from it was another book with the same symbol, thicker than the rest. I took my eyes off it and studied the room more carefully, something didn't seem right. The rocks had names carved into them, most of them looked familiar.
"Dad, these are the names of the Shadyside killers! Is our house built over Sarah Fiers house or something?" I said turning to look at him, he looked nervous.
"No son, not quiet. All these attacks weren't from Sarah" he explained, I didn't know how to feel about the information he was sharing.
"Our ancestor, Solomon Goode started it, so that we could live a life of power" he continued, I couldn't believe it.
"So our family is the reason behind these murders!?"
"You could say that."
"An- and you did this" I said pointing at the names, I scanned them again quickly, spotting Ryan's name.
"How could you!?"
"How could I what? Take what we all want? Power, prosperity, legacy. Consider, it Ethan... a single soul... Just one. And in return... what no amount of praying could ever bring. One person every few years seems a small price to pay."
"You BITCH, SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND AND NOW SHES 'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOUR ACTIONS!" I shouted, I ran up to him and began punching him in the stomach, I cried harder than I ever had. He grabbed me and pushed my head into his chest hugging me tight. Still crying I cursed at him more.
"I know, I know son I'm sorry it wasn't meant to be like that. He wanted Em and I refused and so I offered one of her friends instead, that being Ryan his target was Deena but Em got in the way of him and Deena."
"He? Who's he? Satan?" I said through a shaky voice.
"Yes" dad sighed," Ethan I want you to take on our legacy when I'm gone, you're the first born of this generation so it must be you."
"No! I fucking hate you, get off me!" I yelled again pushing away from him and running out of the tunnels. I ran up the stairs and slammed by door shut.
(Another part coming soon just finding time to work on it! Hope you're all enjoying it)
