Hi I'm Allie parker and I moved to new Jersey with my dad and little sister Eden. Eden has long red natural hair which is weird since no one in our family has red hair. we moved here from Iowa after our mom died from an over dose nobody knew she was using again. She was clean for five years before hand. The police and drs said that it seemed like something was off possibly tampered with at the time of death but my dad insisted she had done it because she has used before right? No one could have possibly done anything we were in the house at the time. but that thought always comes into my mind what if she didn't over dose? what if the police were right? why did my dad try to cover it up by moving us? He says that this year will be a good year since Eden and I are starting off at a new school but I'm not sure since it's my senior year and Edens freshman year... mom would be proud that we're finally in highschool and that Eden is starting to drive now. I on the other hand am trying to keep our lives normal and have a scheduled routine to help my dad raise my sister. So I got a diary to keep track of things it's yellow with a red bind across the rim with stained white pages. Dad starts work on Wednesday it's Sunday night meaning we have to get ready for school the next day. I go into Edens room to help her pick out her outfit. "Allie"? Says Eden, "do you think I would look good in a white shirt with brown chestnut overalls?" "Of course" I said trying to lighten the mood. "I can't find anything to go with my glasses nothing matches". " I'm sure you will look great with whatever you choose." "Goodnight" says Eden I smile as I walk out and go down the long dark hallway to my freshly moved in room. My bed isn't set up yet so I just have a mattress on the floor for now I climb into bed and struggle to fall asleep finally I get up and walk down the hall by Edens door. As I raise my hand to knock I stop myself and go back to bed. The morning finally arrives and I'm dreading getting up. I stumble downstairs to find no one down there but a note on the fridge that says "had to go into work early take Eden to school good luck" I grunt as I take myself upstairs and just before I yell for Eden to come down she opens her door and screams "I'm readyyyy" as were on our way to school I notice things are different then back home but Eden doesn't seem to mind. we arrive at our new school with big falling off tipsy letters across the top of the Building. "Ohana High School" Eden and I both take breaths as we walk towards the ragged old building I tell Eden to make friends and meet me at the car after school. She goes her own separate way and I'm left alone. " Well here goes nothing" I say as the bell rings and I sit down in class. I look around the room to notice a girl with ripped jeans and a baggie black hoodie with short brown hair looking over at me she waves immediately and I hesitate for a couple seconds and wave back with a half smile on my face she comes over and says "hey I'm Carter, you must Allie!" " Uh yeah" I say wondering how she knows my name.
" I've heard so much about you it's almost like I've known you my whole life" I stay quiet until I get the courage to nervously ask what she's heard about me. " Oh you know just the usual new girl talk, well anyway that is my boyfriend Josh" she points to a blonde haired boy with gleamy blue eyes. "JOSH!!" Carter says as Josh turns around, as he turns we make eye contact I quickly look away trying to not make it obvious that I'm staring. He was attractive but I wasn't going to let that get in the way of my very first friendship at my new school.
