When Rafe and Flora had their first interaction after Flora and Topper's break-up, it didn't go exactly well. Flora was trying to end her life, while he was trying to begin his. Flora hated everyone and everything, rumors were being made about her and Topper. Rumors that she knew weren't true, so she decided to try and drown herself. Fortunately, she was saved by Rafe, who dove in without a second thought. Since that moment, they fell in love, Rafe would go to any lengths to make sure Flora was safe and happy.
Some people (JJ) didn't like Flora and Rafe's relationship, they thought it was toxic that basically every other week Rafe and Flora were broken up and back together the next day. Others thought it was because they were kids and they didn't know how to handle tough situations but that they were definitely meant for each other because no one ever brought out happiness in Rafe like Flora did. It was weird for Flora, I mean, she was a Pouge, he was the Kook Prince, in what world would that work.
Flora often questioned her relationship like that, she'd even use it in arguments as if Rafe cared about her status. The only thing Rafe knew was that he had very strong feelings for Flora and it was like it was his duty to protect her. He would basically give his life to make her happy. That's why Rafe hated when they'd fight, he'd be so angry at himself. He often thought that he wasn't good enough for Flora because to him, she was perfect. That was also what Flora thought about Rafe.
Flora Russo was the sweetest person you'd ever meet, that was until she started dating Rafe. The Pogues still think it was because of how much time they spent together, Rafe's sassiness might've rubbed off on Flora. That might be true, but they wouldn't want Flora any other way, (this way they could do shit and get away with it.) Even after getting with Rafe, Flora still believed there was good in everyone. You could be the most horrible person in the world and she'd still believe you had a chance at being good. Boy, was she about to find out how much of a mindset she had.
