NOTE: The story replaces Season 3, Episode 6. Then it makes it AU for everything after it. A historically inaccurate happy ending. Also, no more ulcer on his leg. Oh and I wrote it so that Henry Fitzroy (Fitz to Marie) lives.

Chapter One:

Marie looked out the window, into the light of the sun. She smiled softly at the children playing in the yard outside her window, startling a bit when she heard a familiar chuckle. It had been a few weeks since she was removed from the institution and Marie wasn't nearly as violently startled as before.

“They look so happy,” Marie said softly, staring out at the children once, “is she down there, Charlie?” She asked as her brother pulled her into his arms, “my Kate...is she down there?”

Charles nodded, then let his sister go and watched as she ran. Everyone who saw her coming had cleared a path, the children stopping when they heard her voice calling Katerina's name. Kate turned around to see her mother, lighting up at the sight of her.

“Mummy!”

Henry had arrived just in time to see Marie reunited with her daughter. He saw everything of Marie and Charles in that girl, nothing of her father but those beautiful eyes...crystal blue eyes that were passed down by Kate's paternal grandmother. The woman had disowned her son when she'd found out what he'd done and what had happened. Henry watched as Charles told his sister that Duchess Dowager Eloise, Kate's father's mother, had disowned her son and legally adopted Marie. Marie was shocked, the palest of blue/gray eyes widening even more as Charles spoke. Marie had absolutely adored Duchess Eloise when she was a small child.

Her attention was drawn away when she felt Kate tugging on her hand.

“Come play with us, mummy,” Kate pleaded.

Henry nudged his daughter Mary to join her, Mary taking Elizabeth with her as she left her father with her brother Edward. They had moved this reunion to Grafton Manor for a reason. When Marie was a child, she was fascinated with the stories of Henry's mother's family. She'd often said that Grafton Manor had deserved the brightness of the noise of people; adult and child alike. Quite insightful for a tiny little thing.

Marie spent the night feeling like she was dancing on clouds. She finally got to spend time with her child. For the first time since the girl was still within her womb...and most definitely not the last time. Her daughter was the most delightful little thing, which made Marie wish that she had been there as the child grew.

“Marie...”

The 19 year old turned to see the King, who was surprised to see her up. Marie brought a small and delicate hand to her chest, smiling in relief.

“You scared the breath from me, Harry...” She chuckled.

Henry pulled her over, away from the open window into the garden, and wrapped his cloak around her.

“You still wander at night,” He sighed, shaking his head with a fond chuckle, “you need rest and warmth, Marie, not to be out in the cold.”
